Global: Protests for Palestine

The world has come out in support of Gaza. Hundreds of thousands of people have turned up at rallies and demonstrations over the past five days, which have spanned the globe. From Boston to Beirut, Cape Town to Caracas, citizens have shown their solidarity and support for Gaza.

I have often heard the Palestinian-Israeli problem is complex and long-standing. In some cases, a complex problem is handled by distributed effort i.e. “SETI at Home”, “Folding at Home”. Perhaps the time has come to use the internet, in a similar fashion, on this issue. But rather than algorithms processing each node, there is a human mind instead, using human thoughts to solve this very human problem. Perhaps the solution has been elusive BECAUSE the needed tool has not existed until now; real-time human networking across the planet. Think of it as the greatest brain-storming session ever.
Does anyone have ideas how to go about this??

It seems that a simple request was made by Israel to Hamas. Do not fire anymore rockets into Israel. If this request had been honored, I do not think that Israel would now be bombing or invading Gaza. The solution still, fire no more rockets. How many other nations would allow a neighbor such as Hamas to fire rockets at them without taking some sort of action to protect their citizens?

  • And how many other nations would allow occupation for 61 years without taking action (by firing rockets or otherwise)?

I really have no idea what the comment about the 61 years means. It seems that this territory now held by the Jews was also held by them many years prior to AD 570 when your prophet was born. He had his early converts point towards Jerusalem when they did their prayers before he discover that neither they nor the Christians wanted anything to do with his cult; therefore, he changed that and had them point towards Mecca which also, in the early days, didn’t want to have anything to do with this cult either. In contemporary times, Mosab Hassan Yousef, “son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, one of the most influential leaders of the militant group, (Hamas) said the organization betrays the Palestinian cause and tortures its own members.” He renounced his Muslim faith and now lives and studies in the U.S.

“Islam is not the word of God,” said Yousef. “If you want to be offended it’s your problem. But you know something? Go study. Think for a second that I might be right. So wake up, look at your path, see where you’re going. Are you really going to heaven with 72 virgins after you kill yourself and kill another 20 people?”

“The Hamas leadership, including my father, they’re responsible; they’re responsible for all the violence that happened from the organization. I know they describe it as reaction to Israeli aggression, but still, they are part of it and they had to make decisions in those operations against Israel (for) which there was the killing of many civilians.”

For this 30 year old, that was raised to believe all of what his father taught him and then renounce it all, this must be quite a embarrassment to Humas and it sho0uld be the western supporters of Humas also.

As I had mentioned, no rockets, no invasion. Why is the question not brought up about why Egypt was so slow to open it’s boarder with Gaza?

what about dozens of UN resolutions?! 181 194 242 336 and the list is long! what about the verdict of the International Court of Justice in The Hague? when will israel and the zionists understand that it is not the world standing against them, it is them standing against Humanity!

The UN and all of it’s resolutions are mentioned but why no mention of what has happened and continues to happen in Darfur. Why don’t you get all indignant over that? Do you think that The genocide in Darfur that has claimed over 400,000 lives and displaced over 2,500,000 people would have occurred or be continuing today if the people of Darfur had the ability to defend them selves from the Islamic Arabs of the north.. More than one hundred people continue to die each day; five thousand die every month. Get all indignant over that, you that condemn Israel defending it’s self.***Since February 2003, the Sudanese government in Khartoum and the government-sponsored Janjaweed militia have used rape, displacement, organized starvation, threats against aid workers and mass murder. Violence, disease, and displacement continue to kill thousands of innocent Darfurians every month.*** Five year after the international community declared its intention to stop the atrocities in Darfur there is no end in sight to the abuses. The trend of those attacks has changed. Most of the perpetrators are the same Arab Militias (Janjaweed) but now they have been given official status and turned into so-called Border Guards and other paramilitaries and central reserve police. They are in military uniform and enjoy total impunity, even some of the cases which were reported to the local police were not pursued because the police have no authority over the violators because they are military forces ***In this case their seems to be little “diplomacy” in action because it appears that the U.N. nor, for that matter, the world could care less but the liberal media wants to get everyone worked up over what is happening in Gaza by the Israelis trying to end the rocket attacks . This seems to be what the left wants, for Israel to be annihilated.

If my history serves me correct, Jordan, was part of the alliance that ATTACKED Israel during the 6 day war in 1967 and they lost the West Bank, Egypt lost all of the Sinai peninsula (which the Israelis gave back) and the Gaza strip, which Israel gave back a couple of years ago to the Palestinians, and Syria lost the Golan Heights and Israel would be totally insane to return that high ground to anyone if they expect to survive. It seems that Israel has tried to appease the jihadist at every turn only to be paid back by what is now going on with the terrorist group Hamas. Do people think that if the population of Darfur had the means to protect themselves that 100s of thousands of them would be killed or over 2,550,000 of them displaced? The Islamic Arabs of the north pay no attention to the UN or world opinion (where is the outcry regarding this?) Is that what Israel should do, just let these Islamic jihadist over run them? I think that the indelible lessons learned during the holocaust will never allow that to be the case.

    Doug Swallow:
How many other nations would allow a neighbor such as Hamas to fire rockets at them without taking some sort of action to protect their citizens?

It’s like me saying, I suddenly came and slapped you, and you ended up killing me, my family and my whole neighborhood. But if I didn’t slap you, none of this would’ve happened. That’s your logic ey???

  • Thomas

    Liliane:
How many other nations would allow a neighbor who called for their destruction? Would they leave borders unattended to allow a steady stream of suicide bombers to attack their citizens? Would they turn a blind eye to the hate speech on Palestinian tv?

So basically, if your neighbor taught their children that you were an animal that should be killed and that it would be an honor to die in the process you would simply turn the other cheek.

Please excuse me if I don’t follow your seriously flawed logic.
