Iran: Diplomats walk out at Ahmadinejad's speech

Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad today made headlines once more, when he referred to Israel as a “racist state” during a address at United Nations conference on racism in Geneva, Switzerland. Delegates from several European nations walked out of the conference in protest at Ahmadinejad's remark.

Jomhour has published the following video showing the diplomats’ departure:

Commentators have drawn parallels between this incident and the speech the Iranian president gave at Columbia University in New York in 2007.

Ghommar says Iranians have once again been humiliated in front of the world community their president. He writes [fa]:

It is a very ridiculous and bitter thing that a president who in his own country witnesses a high number of human rights violations… where women are deprived of the most basic rights such as [choosing] their own clothes, and prisons are full of political and ideological prisoners… talks about racism and human rights violations of other UN countries.

Zarehbin says [fa] the scene where different delegates left the conference shows how much we are hated in the world. “What a poor nation we are that this bum [Ahmadinejad] is our president…while a regime repressed Bahai's and others in Iran how can support Palestanians’ rights.”

  • Mohsen Rezae and Pour Mohmadi are not candidates so far. They did not say anything on Holocaust as far as I know. But Mir Hossein Mousavi, former prime Minister who is supported by reformists and some hardliners, called Holocaust a fact.

You live in koo-koo land if you think Israel is a vibrant democracy with equal rights for all is citizens. First of all, any state that is occupying someone else land through genocide & the dispossession of is people is NOT a democracy but a colonial & imperialist power NOT a democracy. I suggest you trace back to 1948 & truly see how the state of Israel came to be. 110% that it was NOT via the democracy process, but through terror & murder. You will NOT get that info via FOX news.

What Ahmadnejad told in Geneva is 100% true. Shame to the arabs for not being able to unite themselves against the zionist and racist regime of israel. It is Iran, a non-arab Muslim country, who had to take the lead. Long live Ahmadnejad. He has the guts to unveil the truth. It is the Europeans, specially the British, who r responsible for this unrest and sufferings of million of people in the occupied land. And by supporting the jewish regime, the US is also equally responsible. If a jewish state was to be established, that should have been in Germany, who is responsible for the holocaust.

You know what, this statement would have been correct if the genocide of Palestinians was true. It is not that the Palestinian population in Gaza and West Bank decreases (which would have been true if there was a genocide) but increases.
Secondly if the fact of dispossession of people and occupation of someone else land would have been the reason not to call the country democracy but imperialist and colonial power what would you say about the following countries
Turkey – dispossessed Armenians and occupy Kurdish land
Iran – occupy Kurdish land and Baluchi land
Saudi Arabia – dispossesses and do not give equal rights to shia people living on their territory
Egypt – try to forcefully put in villages their nomadic people, do not give equal right to Kopts
    Syria – occupies Kurdish land
Pakistan – try to impose its will on baluchi people. Killed thousands of Baluchis couple of years ago and do not want to give them independence . Do not give equal right to shia people.
    Shall I go on?
There is a saying for the thing you do – Pot calling the kettle black!!

I do know, and the Palestinians are 3rd rate citizens that live in a mixture of a fascist nationalist state and a theocratic Jewish fundamentalist ideology called Neo-Zionism. This is not my opinion; this is the opinion of many Jewish scholars and intellectuals. I will advise anybody who really wants to begin to understand this topic to read at least the work on an outstanding Jewish Scholar and a survivor of Belsen, with a remarkable insight and depth of knowledge “Jewish History, Jewish Religion – The weight of three thousand years” by Israel Shahak ISBN-13: 978-0745328409

Many Islamic governments do understand very well the nature and the aims of “The Holocaust Industry” political discourse. The Nazi genocide has been distorted and robbed of its true moral lessons and instead has been put to use as ‘an indispensable ideological weapon to gag any voice of descent about the crimes Israel has been committing for decades. Also, this scam has been going on for so long now and many Jewish institutions and individuals who have cropped up around the issue of reparations in the last several decades have made huge amounts of money. The Holocaust is a historical event that needs to be remembered not a religion that all nations in the world have to embrace.
The reality of the Nazi holocaust remains. Memory can still enable us to recognise new victims, extend sensitivity and monitor signs of impending genocide and oppression.

Ella, “as far as you know” isn’t very far. The very fact that those few Palestinians not ethnically cleansed by Zionist terror gangs in 1948 are today known in Israel generically as ‘Arabs’ indicates the ongoing refusal of Israel to acknowledge the existence of a dispossessed Palestinian people. Nor is their representation in the Israeli Knesset the sole criterion for deeming Israel an inclusive democracy: these Palestinians (as non-Jews) are denied (purchasing/leasing) access to 93% of Israel’s land area and get nowhere near the same share of state resources allocated to Jewish Israelis. Moreover, Israel’s ongoing criminal refusal to allow the return of the now millions of Palestinian refugees expelled by its terror gangs in 1948 to their homes and lands in Israel (then Palestine) means that they remain in exile, stateless and disenfranchised, simply so that Zionist Israel’s racist desire to remain a Jewish state can be satisfied. Please do your homework before pronouncing on these matters.
