I joined Global Voices in 2008 as a volunteer translator for GV in French, worked with GV Japan in 2009, and in 2011 began working as the organization's Finance and Administrative Manager. When I'm not crunching numbers, I'm usually traveling, eating out, studying languages, or dancing – preferably on a beach somewhere in the Caribbean.

Madagascar, rosewood trafficking: an investigator arrested

The site Mongabay [in English] and the blog MyDago [in French] reported on September 17 that “a foreign journalist”, whose identity was not revealed, was arrested on September 5 in Maroantsetra in eastern Madagascar while investigating the smuggling of rosewood [in French].

West Africa: Drug Traffickers and Politico-Military Dictators

The UN assistant representative in Africa against drug trafficking Cyriaque Sobtafo recently stated that west Africa is now the hub for cocaine trafficking. Many countries are affected and the sudden death of the son of Dadis Camara generated many speculations about the possible involvement of drug dealers in the event.
