Nigeria: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Declines WTO High Post

Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria's Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy is not interested in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) top job.  Pascal Lamy will retire soon and there's been speculations that Okonjo-Iweala may seek to replace him.

Y’ Online quotes an e-press release from Mrs Iweala's office:

“For the avoidance of doubt, Dr Okonjo-Iweala is not a candidate for the leadership of the WTO. She has also not expressed any interest whatsoever in the position.”

Global Voices reported on Okonjo-Iweala's historical bid for the World Bank presidency in March and April respectively.
