Tanzania: Twittering 2010 Tanzania General Elections

Tanzanians voted on on 31 October 2010 to elect the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, President of Zanzibar, Members of Parliament and Members of the Zanzibar House of Representatives. Using hashtags #UchaguziTZ, #uchaguzi, and #TZelect, Tanzanian netizens have been keeping their followers updated with results and on-the-ground observations.

Six hours ago (at the time of writing this post) Shurufu reported:

NCCR has won two parliamentary seats in Kigoma! Kasulu Mjini and Kasulu Kijijini. #uchaguzitz #tzelect

Babukadja announced:

CHADEMA yaangusha waziri Mbulu

CHADEMA [main opposition in mainland Tanzania] deafeats a minister in Mbulu [a constituency in Arusha]

On October 31, 2010 Zitto Kabwe announced on his Twitter page that he has defended his seat for Kigoma North:

I have defended my seat!
