Historically, we’d have to wait for something bad to happen – a mining disaster, an outbreak of disease. I see the photos in the Globe as evidence of what might be a healthier form of storytelling – a picture of a place that’s fascinating, whether or not it’s especially “newsworthy” today. The gembloggers are an interesting complement to this sort of reporting.
