jmc strategies says that “Michèle Pierre-Louis is now officially the Honorable Prime Minister of Haiti…just in time for the opening of the chapter on what may turn out to be the biggest challenge facing Haiti this decade: how to rebuild after the devastations wrought by Hurricanes Fay, Gustav, Hanna, and Ike.”

I’ve posted in my blog some pieces of Pierre-Louis speech of her officially PM cerimony. See overthere!
Who is addressing the food crisis and environmental crisis in Haiti?
The hurricane season has highlighted Haiti’s
vulnerability to any strong wind or rain fall. Most of the crops for
the coming harvest have been wiped out. Is Haiti irretrievably
condemned to man-made famine and ecological disaster?
GRASSROOTS SOLUTIONS
Founded in 1973, the Papaye Peasant Movement (MPP) is Haiti’s largest
grassroots organization, and is successful in addressing
the problems of food production, land protection and viable peasant
cooperatives. MPP leader Chavannes JEAN-BAPTISTE will speak about the current situation,
problems and solutions. MPP’s 35-year experience in food production and peasant organizing
could be the basis for a viable solution to the crisis in Haiti.
