avant reported that famous flying saucer houses in Taipei County, Taiwan, are planned to be torn down.
Lynn was one of the people who were amazed by these interesting and special houses.
This is wonderful. I'm thrilled to see this image. First, I just love the architecture for its complete difference. I hope you'll forgive me for saying this, but when I was a kid, growing up in Australia, I used to watch an American cartoon show called the Jetsons. It was extremely futuristic and these buildings really remind me of it; of what we might have thought in the '60s that we'd be living in by the 21st century. Secondly, it's an absolutely beautiful image. The colours are delicate yet still have a certain strength to them. The reflection helps to strengthen the palette. I just can't believe that this has been abandoned. I really hope that it is preserved.
Because the flying saucer houses are so special, avant proposed that we should preserve them as a national historic monument.
If you are interested, Marta Michałowska and Fabian Sowiński provided some background architecture information about the flying saucer houses.
*The original article was written in Hokkien, which is commonly used in Taiwan. Hokkien is currently categorized as a dialect of Chinese.

Where is the petition to sign?
These buildings could be profitable for Taiwan. Even a German news magazine recently reported about it: http://einestages.spiegel.de/static/topicalbumbackground/2277/die_geisterstadt_der_ausserirdischen.html
I want to live in a flying saucer house!
I don’t think there is a petition for this yet.
Sort of reminds me of countryside houses in and around Hangzhou, with the metal orbs on top: http://is.gd/2c3l
Very interesting.
Do you know why these houses were abandoned?
Hi all,
Thanks for leaving your message here.
There is no petition yet.
The builder of the flying saucer houses went bankrupts, and they did not complete the project. The flying saucer houses were abandoned thereafter. If you can read Chinese, here is the source about why they were abandoned: http://sofree.twbbs.org/blog/2008/01/20/truth-about-frp/
