Arabisc: Action from Dubai and Kuwait's Shopping Malls

The whole world is a stage and it is more so at Dubai‘s City Centre, which is considered one of the largest malls in the Gulf.

Bahraini blogger Mohammed Al Mubarak sums up his recent visit to the mall, where he literally sees the world pass by.

“A lot of people come and go.. individuals and families; Arabs, Indians, Westerners and other nationalities; Beautiful women, men with huge bellies, children; People who are smartly dressed and those who aren't; A man walking while videotaping; People carrying lots of shopping bags; Young people running and others wearing weird clothes; Girls and women in short tight clothes; Girls and women completely covered up.. It indeed is just another day at Dubai's City Centre.

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti blogger Bo Sale7 gives us a sneak preview of some of the girls who frequent a Kuwaiti mall.. thinking they are models on a catwalk! Here he goes into some of the details Al Mubarak wasn't too keen to provide us with.

“Every time I go to a mall, especially Marine Mall, I feel there is something wrong with my eyes and develop a reaction against girls and their fashions, which has made them seem like a herd from an unknown species. The relationship of those girls with fashion is just like the relationship between someone suffering from a fever and a virus. The relation between them booms without any study or planning, until the individual with a fever becomes mad or dies. A lot of our girls look like wax statues in a cheap museum, with their faces haphazardly painted – some blue and others green – and hair of the same colour as well as similar hairstyles and clothes. They don't seem to acknowledge that women come in different sizes, shapes, colours and facial features. A lot of our girls and women are spiteful towards Lebanese girls, who are groomed and dressed by reputable professionals. But they don't seem to see the tragedy unfolding where ever we go (in Kuwait). They say that Kuwaiti women are the most elegant in the Gulf, as they are seen shopping in Europe and Lebanon for all their needs. But I personally don't see where this elegance is when those girls wear clothes and make up that doesn't suit them. Not everything in fashion suits us and not all the beauty products can make us look better. It is lovely to see women taking care of themselves and their looks, but their should use products to make them look better and not like monsters of an unknown species,” he writes.

The Gulf is made up of Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
