It's hard to put a figure on the number of refugees and displaced people in the world and there are different reasons as to why they relocate. Here we collect Global Voices coverage on this topic, and provide selected resources.

Refugees are forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) meanwhile, are trying the find safety and refuge within their own country. Stateless people are defined by a legal concept describing the lack of any nationality, due to the absence of a recognized link between an individual and any state.

World Refugee Day is marked annually on 20 June.

What we do: Global Voices bloggers report on how citizens use the Internet and social media to make their voices heard, often translating from different languages.
