Myanmar on Saturday confirmed its first case of swine flu, with state media reporting that a 13-year-old girl had tested positive for the virus on her return from Singapore.
Four Hundred Burmese Migrant Workers Arrested in Thailand
Four hundred migrant workers, including their children who were studying in school, were arrested by Thai border guards who also burnt the houses, clothes and kitchen wares of migrants in the village who had managed to escape arrest.
Myanmar: Collapse of an Ancient Pagoda
An ancient pagoda in Myanmar collapsed while it was going under renovation, killing at least 5 people. The 180-foot Danoke Pagoda in Yangon Division was originally damaged during Cyclone Nargis so it had been going under renovation. GV author Tan translates a Burmese blogpost about the tragedy.
