With the abolition of custody and repatriation (C&R) system in 2003, it seems the Chinese petitioners no longer have to worry about being detained as illegal residents when they leave for a strange city to petition a higher governmental institution. However, according to blogger Xu Zhiyong, a young professor of law and strong advocate for human rights, those supplicants are actually still being intercepted by the local officials from the way to the State Bureau for Letters and Calls, the Supreme People’s Court or other departments, and forcedly taken to some makeshift house of detention, being lock up without any legal process. As the places which confined the petitioners are always hidden among the ordinary buildings, people call them “Black Jails”.

In cooperation with citizen reporter Zhou Shuguang (Zola) and other two journalists Chen Er (Doubleaf) and Guo Jiannong, Xu Zhiyong, who firstly blogged Beijing’s black jails in the end of September, went to visit one of the unlawful prisons again on Monday, attacked by a group of thugs who were allegedly hired by the authorities.

Xu introduced the background of the operation in his blog:

……

Yesterday I received an SMS, “This is Henan’s Ma Xirong, being confined with more than twenty people in the black jail behind the Youth Hotel on the Beijing Hufang road. Can you save us? Emergency!”. Because I was at class and tied up with my work at that moment, I promised to go there today. After the last SMS contact at about 11:00 am, making sure Ma was still there, I decided to start off at 4:00 pm.
.
I arranged with Zhou Shuguang and his two journalist friends to meet at the Youth Hotel. Three of us reached the door of black jail at 4:15 pm, leaving Zhou to shoot videos from a safe distance. Ma Xirong came to the window and asked to let her out, but the guard rejected her request while calling the Beijing Office of Henan Province. So she talked with us through the window, saying that she was questioned by the police while walking in Wangfujing Street. After finding her petition materials, the police arrested her and then locked her up in this place. When more and more petitioners assembled at the window, Ma Xirong was forced into the inner room by the guard and I could still hear she shouted, “I am a citizen. Who are you to stop me here?”
…

Doubleaf, a well-known blogger in China, from his unique angle promptly blogged the situation at that time :

The alley where the black jail is located

……

…
The black jail is actually a hostel named “Cozy Youth Hotel”, west to the Temple of Heaven, in a small alley on Taiping Street near Taoranting Park, where very few people pass by. The path fully covered by fallen leaves is so narrow that only one car can fit in. Looked from the outside, this dilapidated building has nothing to relate to the black jails, although more than 20 petitioners, all from Henan, are illegally imprisoned here. In fact, the hostel is rented by the Office for Letters and Calls of Henan Province, used especially to lock up the petitioners.
.
At the door of black jail, Guo Jianlong and Xu Zhiyong were responsible for communicating to the people inside while I was watching the outside circumstances. After a lengthy dispute, the person we wanted to meet finally came out, briefly talking with us behind a closed security door. The one we tried to save was a woman in her fifties, who was allegedly detained before getting a chance to petition.
.
Subsequently, an interception officer who pretended as a petitioner’s relative came to knock at the black jail’s door, but the guard inside didn’t let him in immediately because of our visit. We talked with him for a while, learning some information.
.
The man didn’t get in until 20 minutes later. Then we again had a short conversation with the person we wanted. I heard she was incessantly saying, “We are just talking”, which was assumed that someone inside was attempting to stop our dialog.
.
In the meantime, 3 or 4 strappers stared at us from the corner and the other side of the alley. Xu Zhiyong indicated they were the black jail’s thugs, one of which even passed us with a kid in his arms. According to Zola, that man had planned “holding the kid to kick them”. After that, we had a word with another female petitioner who professed to come here of “her own volition” through the window.
.
About one hour later, nearly 5:20 pm, a mini-bus with the license of “京 MG8490” drove into the alley, from which got off 3 or 4 big men. They abusively seized Guo Jianlong, asking why he was there. “To receive someone,” Guo replied. “Whom?! Whom?!” one of them impatiently shouted. Without surplus words, the big men started hitting us. We hastened to ask Zola staying tens of meters out run away. At the time, the thugs who watched us from the beginning came up one by one, about 6 or 7 in all. A fat guy of Beijing accent beat Xu Zhiyong the most brutally, while swearing, “You are the f*** lawyer, right?!” Maybe because it’s mainly Guo Jianlong and Xu Zhiyong that negotiated with them just now and I almost kept silent, they didn’t punch me. Even though, I was still a little scared. Without running off or fighting back, I acted as a shameful onlooker. I even got no courage to yell “stoppage”.
.
“Go to the police station. It’s very close,” those thugs provocatively said, while hitting and cursing. About 5 minutes later, they stopped, but we didn’t leave. “He is one of them,” one of the thugs pointed at me, though no one lifted hands against my face.
.
During the entire process, Xu Zhiyong and Guo Jianlong didn’t strike back in any way.
.
Around 17:45, the woman we expected finally came out of the jail, accompanied with the officer from the Office for Letters and Calls of her hometown. So Xu Yongzhi, Guo Jianlong and I quickly moved out of the alley. As we arrived at the corner, another brutal thug rushed into the way, threatening to bump Xu to death by car. Since Xu continued standing on the way, I hurried to draw him aside, saying, “The person has been saved. Let’s get out of here.” Xu Zhiyong then said to the thugs: “We will be back. “
…

Zola gave an outline of the whole thing and had more materials in his blog:

……

At noon of October 13，I published information in twitter, seeking for people who wanted to go to the black jail together. Doubleaf was on vacation and Guo Jianlong working at the Economy Report of 21 Century was also free, so we decided to meet before Youth Hotel at 4:00 pm. The plan was I watched and recorded at the intersection while the other three men went to the door to ask for the petitioner.
.
The following map shows our positions that I watch A where the other three men negotiate with the guards to ask for the petitioner from B where the gate of Beijing No. 62 High School is located.

Besides the four men’s admirable courage and omni-directional blogging afterwards, another stunning knockout of the black jail operation is Doubleaf and Zola’s live report on the event by Twitter, which, as Isaac Mao commented, “has showed the social media’s potential routes of transmission and power.”

Xiao Qing carrying a placard stands at the gate of Gongbei Xiawan Primary School and she is so anxious to go to school like other little boys and girls. 7 years ago, her parents gave birth to her without registering for marriage. Then her father walked out on the family. Since Xiao Qing was born out of wedlock, the mother has to pay a 9000 yuan (about 1321 US dollars) fine to the family planning department so as to apply hukou (a kind of residency permit in China)in Zhuhai for her daughter. However, the single mother cannot afford it, even though Xiao Qing has reached school age. Desperately, the mother could only take her daughter to the relevant departments to ask for help. During two months, they visited the family planning department, the education department, the sub-district office and the local government, but none progress was made. As the new term was coming up and the children of the same age nearby all went to school with new bags, Xiao Qing and her mother were deeply depressed. Failing to intercede with the authorities, the mother came up with her last idea that she wrote down on a piece of paper “I am a local child. I want to receive compulsory education, too”, and let Xiao Qing stand at the school gate with the slogan, hoping such extreme measure would attract the attention of the news media and relevant departments. "The mistake I made has nothing to do with my child. She is a human being. Why can’t she apply hukou? Why can’t she receive education?” Xiao Qing's mother said to me.

Family planning is a basic state policy of China and illegitimate birth violates it. If we change it only for one specific case, the policy will never be implemented. And consequently, people will face more pressure of life amid population explosion. We must look at this problem from an overall point of view, but not a particular one!

Illegitimate children are also human beings, having the basic human rights, especially the right to education. If without the rights, does that mean the girl was born to be surplus? Can we deprive of her basic human rights at will, even including the right to subsistence? Obviously not. But why was her education right taken away? What a social system! What a human-centered development! What a country under the rule of law! Indignation!!

If you guarantee the girl’s rights today, who will guarantee other children’s rights tomorrow, including your child? When the population of China soars, there will be more innocent people lose their social rights!!
Although the child didn’t make any mistake, can the mother cover up her fault for the past years? Why didn’t the mother scare up money to pay the fine? Why did she let her innocent kid bear all the things? She just took advantage of the public controversy to solve her own problems. And have she ever thought if her arrangements will bring her child psychological problems? 9000 yuan (about 1318 US dollars) is not as much as ninety thousand yuan (about 13189 US dollars). It won’t be difficult to raise so much money as long as she desperately works, right? Is she qualified for a mother to use her child in this way?

No one is willing to have a baby without marriage, especially to a mother. There must have been an unutterably predicament that forced her to do so. A single mother has to bear so many hardships and difficulties to raise her child, so what she needs is help. Moreover, Illegitimacy is not against the one-child policy . It’s so ruthless to make their life more miserable.

Giving birth is every normal woman’s birthright. It’s originally wrong for the current system to repress it. However, the girl has come into this world, under the social system of China, so she is certainly a mistake in law. But I want to ask those who gave irresponsible words if human love is wrong. In this mammonism society, the nobility and gentry are allowed to have children as many as they want, because they are rich. So does that mean the law is something to restrict the poor and clean the road for the rich? What a woe! If the law varies from person to person, it means there is no law! The children are innocent. The people are the center and roots of the country and the will of the people give the right direction. Any system should have the human rights first.

The hukou system is wrong since the very beginning. Once the baby was born, he or she has the right to existence, which is one of the basic human rights. Will the person vanish because he is not issued with hukou? It will only make the people unfairly treated be hostile to the society. Consequently, the society may end up paying a heavier price. Can we expect a harmonious society in this way?
Why can’t our government treat her people better and more tolerably?

Scheming frame-up, unlawful arrest and bitter escape journey, it’s not the story line of the new season of Prison Break , but a Chinese Police Sergeant’s unbelievable experience against his corrupt superior officer. Since the end of August, a post named “A fugitive sergeant’s diary” has flared and spread among many different Chinese blogs, BBSs and online communities, and finally even attracted attention of the mainstream media, including Xinhua News Agency, the official press agency of the government.

Yang Xiaodong (阳晓东), the alleged author of the diary, who proclaimed himself the Criminal Police Commander of Huangchuan County, Henan Province, disclosed a sequence of events that how the higher-ups of the local police intrigued with the gangsters against him for his continuous exposure of their underground crimes, and how he escaped from the house arrest, hiding himself in the mountains and running from one place to another.

A note at the beginning of the diary (excerpt):

…I am Yang Xiaodong (阳晓东), the Criminal Police Commander of Huangchuan County, Henan Province. Since March, 2008, I have successively written two reports, The Evil under the Police Badge and A National Advanced Public Security Bureau's Metamorphosis , exposing the illegal activities of Wu Xiaohui (邬晓辉), the Deputy Director General of Public Security Bureau of Huangchuan County, and malfeasance of the whole department. With my real name, I sent the two reports to Henan Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection, Wang Tie (王铁), Secretary of Xinyang Municipal Committee of the CPC, Jiao Yuru (焦豫汝), Secretary of County Committee of the CPC, People's Procuratorate of Xinyang city, People's Procuratorate of Henan Province, Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, and the Ministry of Public Security of Xinyang city. Then the instructions issued by the leadership were in succession relayed to the Commission for Discipline Inspection of Xinyang Public Security Bureau. April 31 a group of investigators, including Hu Yongbin (胡永斌), the Deputy Secretary of Commission for Discipline Inspection of Xinyang Public Security Bureau, arrived Hungchuan County and on May 7 they had found out the case that Wu Xiaohui (邬晓辉) illegally ran gambling house, violently obstructing the work of the police. However, the investigating team suddenly stopped their work and told me “The leadership have instructed the investigations of the other cases are suspended”

Subsequently, many cases I reported were deliberately leaked out. Because those cases were related to the criminal underworld, the embezzlement of the public security organs and horrible dereliction of duty, Wu Xiaohui (邬晓辉), the involved public security organs and criminal forces began their crazy revenge on me. The “black world” threatened me by anonymous calls, while the “white world” Wu Xiaohui (邬晓辉) took advantage of his powers to monitor my cell phone, house and social relationships, and in the meantime sent lobbyist to buy me off, “As long as you drop the charges you can have 500 thousand yuan (73 068.5 US dollars)”. Moreover, Wu Xiaohui (邬晓辉) greased the palm of the leadership at all levels by cash and various relationships. Until now, Wu Xiaohui and the relevant criminal forces haven't got any punishment. Li Hongwei, the deputy chief procurator of Xinyang People's Procuratorate, personally said to me, “Sergeant Yang, you should pay attention to your safety. It is not that we don't want to look into those things. We are just powerless”…

…Around 11 p.m. of July 25, Run Daohong (润道宏), the Director General of Public Security Bureau of Huangchuan County, told me to go to the assembly room of Party committee to have a talk. I showed up on time. While Hu Yongbin (胡永斌), the Deputy Secretary of Commission for Discipline Inspection of Xinyang Public Security Bureau and Zhou Qixin (周启新), official of the Municipal Commission for Discipline, were pretending to inquire into the reporting affairs, about 10 armed policemen broke in and completely surrounded me; with that, Zhou Qixin (周启新) announced that he representing the Municipal Commission for Discipline executed “Shuanggui” on me…

… Because the charge was unwarranted, I denied signing in the judgment and further cooperating. They dragged me into a van and secretly moved me out of the police station. Obviously, they were trying to seal my lips and take my life, so I had to choose escape. August 1 I broke out of the house where I was detained; August 2 the Huangchuan Public Security Bureau illegally listed me as wanted; Since August 3, Wu Xiaohui (邬晓辉) with the criminal forces of Huangchuan county has sent two groups of killers to Shanghai, Beijing etc. to assassinate me. My life is in extreme danger. To arouse the police's ethical conscience and stand firm for the justice and fairness, I have been ready to sacrifice myself. Meanwhile, I have published the letter of accusation and my fugitive diary on the Internet. Once I suffer from misfortune, those materials can also be used as evidence. What's more, I believe the voice of millions of netizens will bring justice, fairness, democracy and social progress, and face the corruption and malversation down. Let's encourage each other!

Up to now, Sergeant Yang's fugitive diary has been updated from July 26, the first day of the house arrest, to August 13 when he fled to Fuyang, a city in Anhui Province. Because of the massive reproductions among the blogs and BBSs, no one knows exactly where Yang published his diary or whether there is someone else who helped him do the updating work. Even so, according to 3 blogs (Links: 1, 2, 3) which many bloggers linked to, It's very likely that the diary was firstly packaged into one post and then updated in different blogs every 6 or 8 days. All the 3 blogs were established in Blogger and dressed by black style.

Although Sergent Yang's legendary and tragic experience has won most Chinese netizen's strong support and deep sympathy, an inescapable question naturally arouse before everyone concerned. Is it true? Will the story maker behind the curtain suddenly jump out and exaltedly shouted that you are fooled? To avoid that situation, some cautious netizens began to further investigate the information revealed by the diary. Surprisingly the officials mentioned do exist, and Wu Xiaohui (邬晓辉), the most important role in Yang's depiction, was even found in the official website of Huangchuan County.

Da Dida, a blogger in bullog.cn, through web cache collected more to prove Sergeant Yang's identity:

According to the screenshots in Da Dida's blog, it's clearly that until August 22 Yang Xiaodong (阳晓东), the name of the fugitive sergeant was still in the leadership list of Huangchuan Public Security Bureau. However, before most of the collectors had a chance to get it, a blogger named Naughty Lion (顽皮的狮子）pointed out a "mistake" in the backdrop of the special notes, which sparked new debate in the Chinese net world:

The 29th Olympics commemorative note released by the central bank on July 8th, 2008, is the first Olympic-themed paper money in the world, and so far it is also the one with the smallest quantity of issue, with only 6 million notes. The sales are so hot across the country that many people cannot buy one after standing in the queue for a very long time. Now the market price has been rocketing up more than 50 times.
.
Compared to most of the people, I was so lucky. I went to my office very early in the morning to attend a meeting according to the North American time. After that, I called the bank and learned that the branch downstairs was selling the notes. Immediately, I rushed into the elevator, straight up to the business hall of the bank… In spite of the pains of crowding and sweating, I am happy and excited—I got one!!
.
Referring to the central bank's 11th Announcement, I appreciated this Olympic commemorative note, exquisite and innovative. The new anti-counterfeiting technology of it is much better than the sticker stamp of Bird's Nest!
.
But finally I found out a serious mistake. It's so provocative. Can't the designers be more careful!

Look at the backdrop of the front side. Where is the top of the Temple of Heaven ?—- It's under the Bird's Nest!!! What a stupid mistake!!!! Have a look at the scanned image.

The sample note also has the same problem.

Besides, it is notable that there were 6 million notes released in total, but the serial number of the sample note is ten million and nine. Does the issue size really reach ten million?
All the things above are still to be determined.
.

Naughty Lion's detection also triggered a swift response of China's mainstream media, including Xinhua News Agency, which said the netizens' complaint is fastidious, and in the meantime some people also retorted that the "mistake" is just a kind of anti-counterfeiting means, even though the official introduction of the commemorative note has never mentioned that.

The most interesting thing is, Naughty Lion's original post was forced to be hidden by blog.sohu.com, one of the biggest BSPs in China, while the top media are quoting the screen-shots of his blog and criticizing his "fussy discovery".

The post The mistake of Olympic commemorative note blasts out; still to be determined I wrote yesterday pointed out that the top of the Temple of Heaven was printed under the Bird's Nest in the backdrop of Olympic commemorative note.
The blog of les+, a voluntary Lesbian magazine, published an article titled by Where are you, LES blood donors? to criticize the ban on blood from lesbians:

“We want to donate blood”

献过血的拉拉，请发邮件到tongyu.org@gmail.com ，告诉我们你的献血经历。

After Wenchuan was hit by an 8 magnitude earthquake, the whole nation has been in deep sorrow. People all over China actively donate either money or blood, trying to express their concern. In the homosexual community, we also make donations for the earthquake-stricken area, and many of us went to donate blood without any hesitation, in hope of saving more lives of the victims.
.
A lot of LESs find out the regulations of blood donation have specified the homosexual people are prohibited from donating blood. The blood stations rejected some LESs' offer when they indicated their sexual orientation (even some of them have the rare RH-negative blood), on the ground that the homosexual is the high-risk group of AIDS.
.
However, as to the contaminated blood transmitted by unprotected sex, lesbians are not more dangerous than any other groups. A study applying to all the sexually transmitted diseases (STD), including AIDS and Hepatitis B, showed that sex between women is comparatively low-risky (compared to other groups).
.
During the national calamity, everyone is trying to contribute something to help the victims and save lives, but the unreasonable regulations have prevented altruistic act of the homosexual and disappointed all of us. LESs long to take an active part in the disaster relief, so please don't turn down our earnest donations.
.
Tongyu, a lesbian association in Beijing, is collecting the blood donation stories of LESs, and going to call for an amendment of blood donation rules. LESs who have donated blood please send email to tongyu.org@gmail.com , telling us your experience of donation. Let's hold on together to eliminate the homophobia and discrimination based on sexual orientation; help others and help ourselves!

Author:Chelsea Posted on:2008-05-28 15:12:36
I'm not a medical profession, but I think once the homosexual genes do exist, such regulations should be reasonable.
However, according to that logic…people with violent or mutant genes won't qualify for the standards of blood donation, either.
It all depends on the victims of the earthquake. What's more important to them, to live on or to maintain the “purity” of their genes?

I have seen the related problems after my colleague who recently went to donate blood was asked to complete a pile of questionnaires.
One of the questions is: whether has drug addiction, homosexual history or AIDS history.
They put such three items together, holding a wrong point that they are related with each other.
In fact, the blood of LESs is safer than those heterosexual.

Being listed with other communicable diseases like AIDS and leprosy, all “the homosexual and people who have multiple sexual partners” are banned from donating blood, according to China's health standards for blood donors (《献血者健康检查标准》) .

If he doesn't want me to donate, I won't do. I don't want to make troubles. Although I'm homosexual, I never have promiscuous sexual acts. As for the risk of contaminated blood I am actually much safer than many heterosexual people. Such clause made by the authorities is useless. Who can tell the homosexual from the heterosexual during the blood donating? The safety of blood users can't be guaranteed unless a strict verification is conducted. So the clause is nothing more than a discrimination against the homosexual.

On the second day when we were working as volunteers, the plasma aid didn't come in time, so we went to donate blood immediately. I have never donated blood, so I know little about it…
Will people be asked about their sexual orientation when they donate blood…
The gays are more at risk for the infection that causes AIDS than the heterosexual…
It's unlucky that the clause involves the innocent lesbians.

We should squarely face the question, but not present impulsion. For people's safety, we have rights to reject insecure factors. Can you call it discrimination? The homosexual is an issue that deserves a deep consideration.

Personal opinion: as long as homosexuality is not forbidden by the law, the gays and lesbians absolutely have rights to live in their own way; it's their freedom and no one has the right to interfere in their life. From the other view, do the homosexual have anything to do with you？Do they bother you? If not, why do you meddle in others' affairs?

Seismologist with tearless grief: Today's strong quake was predicted
.
Under the direction of the modern science and technology of Western World, the forecast of destructive earthquake（over 5 magnitude) is impossible, especially the imminent earthquake prediction, which has been a general consensus in the seismology world. From this point of view, there is no way to well predict the Tangshan earthquake 32 years ago or today's Wenchuan earthquake. The TV program “Read News Everyday”(有报天天读）of Phoenix mentioned: some newspapers said the calamity of Tangshan earthquake is “mainly caused by human error” ; the anchor of “Debate on Current Affairs”(时事辩论会) said: if China had accepted the international aid, hundreds of thousands of people would have survived. Those opinions are not in accord with the facts. The truth is the tragedy might have been avoided if authorities had accepted the views of the scientists, who combined the research of the east and the west. Please refer to the relevant articles I copied or published in my blog.
.
During 1970‘s, a group of young seismologists in China had achieved great results which were well ahead of the world level by studying the essence of Chinese traditional culture(including the methods that fully make use of the historical documents and “analogy drawn from phenomena”). For example, according to the statistics of the relationship between drought and earthquake throughout the ages（including 1956-1970), Geng Qingguo discovered a law that “the epicentral region always suffered droughts 1-3.5 years before the earthquake over 6 magnitude. Besides, the larger the drought region occupied and the longer the drought lasted, the higher the corresponding magnitude would be.” (2-3.5 years after the long droughts during 512-1879AD, seven 7.5-8 magnitude earthquakes had occurred in China) In 1972, Geng Qingguo put forward a theory of “medium-term earthquake prediction based on the relationship between drought and quake”. By that law, Geng Qingguo successfully predicted the Haicheng earthquake in 1975 and especially the Tangshan earthquake in 1976. In 1980's, He published his treatise The Relationship between Drought and Earthquake in China (Science Press). However, those achievements challenged the powers in the Chinese seismology circle, so Geng Qingguo was shunted from the prediction team to an earthquake newspaper office.
.
Today is May 12, 2008, Chinese seismologist Geng Qingguo is suffering with tearless grief. In 2006, according to the relationship between drought and earthquake he predicted in recent years there would be a serious earthquake over 7 magnitude in Aba autonomous region. After a group discussion on April 26 and 27, 2008, Committee of Natural Hazards Prediction subordinate to Chinese Geophysical Society (CGS) reported that “a 6-7 magnitude earthquake may occur to the south of Lanzhou, around the borders of Sichuan, Gansu and Qinghai.” (the written report had been sent to the China Earthquake Administration by confidential letter on April 30). What's more, Geng Qingguo clearly indicated that “the dangerous point of an earthquake over 7 magnitude in Aba region is on May 8 (within 10 days before or later)” in accordance with the magnetic storm Combinations.（The prediction above had obviously pointed out all the three essential factors). Geng Qingguo, an undoubted national treasure, is excluded by the earthquake experts of mainstream, and can only depend on a meager pension to continue his research. The pity is what this old seismologist said didn't make any difference.
.
I am filled with grief and indignation. I was wondering if there will come a day when Geng Qingguo, Wang Chengmin, Ren Zhenqiu and Wangdixing such national treasure are not frozen out any more, and freely work for the rejuvenation of China.

The mass circulation of Li Shihui's article in the blogsphere and BBSs has provoked more criticism on China Earthquake Administration which did not publish any warning before the dreadful earthquake while some other netizens expressed their doubt about Li's unofficial statement.

In a word, the information about the earthquake should be treated with scientific and realistic attitude. Tell the people that those information is neither rumors nor totally reliable truth. I believe people will understand that. To deal with the situation only by violent ideological confrontation can only backfire. The authorities should learn the lesson.
On the other hand, it is really inadvisable to give too much emphasis to Geng Qingguo's prediction, because before the earthquake no one knew whether his prediction was right or not.
Someone may believe that it's a case involving human life, so the authorities should have paid more attention to his prediction. However, those friends may not know there are hundreds and thousands of such kind of prediction. it's not easy for the authorities to pick the valuable out of vast information.
It has been 49 years and no matter how serious the estrangement is, brothers must sit down and have a calm and sensible talk. Hope Dalai Lama can return Lhasa as soon as possible. Long live the great unity of the Chinese nation！

Dialog is the best way to solve problems. For the promotion of National Reconciliation, we must get off our high horse so as to have a good talk with the minority people. Dalai has openly proclaimed he is a Chinese and told the Tibetans to take pride in Beijing Olympics, so we should at least approve him at this point. Talking with Dalai shows the maturity, wisdom and confidence of the central government.
It's right for the government to do so! A rigid attitude benefits neither side; After all, Tibetans are mainly religious people and Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of most of them. On the premise of national unity, sovereignty integrity, abolition of slavery, social stability and preservation and development of people's livelihood, it's responsible for the government to listen to the different voices and demands.
No matter which people, no matter who, as long as he identify with multi-ethnic family of China, we will try to win him over!
Wish the Chinese nation fraternal unity！Wish that the complete reunification of China can be achieved at an early date!

This evening I noticed a piece of news:
The relevant department of the central government will have contact and consultation with Dalai side.
.
What made me disconsolate was when Netease published the report, not a comment was visible after the news. It looks the government doesn't have courage to face the whole nation. Before that, our central government had criticized Dalai to shreds and devil, provoking a tide of battle-cry against him from our lovely people. Now our central government is going to consult with Dalai. It's really ironic.
.
Earlier, what annoyed me more was I had to use DL instead of Dailai when I wrote something about him, otherwise my blog would not pass the Internet police's censorship at all. In fact, I just completely retold some of Dalai's recent airing views in the foreign media, but even so, it's still very difficult to pass the censorship.
.
We always keep criticizing the western media's injustice which has harmed Chinese people, but how much justice have our media given Dalai?
The good thing is Chinese government is heading in the right direction.

In spite of the occupants' outcry, about 1000 security guards and 20 policemen escorting two diggers intruded into a commodity housing district named Li Shui Jing Yuan in Chongqing, the largest of China's four provincial-level municipalities, to forcibly carried out the developer's reconstruction plan which was officially supported by the local government, causing a serious bloodshed conflict.

About 9:00a.m. on April 1st, 2008, there were approximately 1000 men dressed in the security guard uniforms and 20 policemen without wearing the number badges that made a forcible entry into the residential quarter, setting up temporary fences, lining up and blocking exits to prevented the residents passing through. Close behind were two large yellow diggers which immediately crushed the enclosing walls of the residential quarter and broke into the basketball court to start crazy digging. Less than 1 hour, the trees around the court were uprooted while all the basketball facilities and the walls around were totally destroyed. Part of the beautiful residential quarter was instantly falling into ruin.
.
Since it was the workday, only a few old residents staying at home witnessed the awfully startling scenes; besides astonishment, they could only suffer quietly. A young lady living in the residential quarter passed the barbarous construction site as she drove home at 10:00 a.m.. She was forcibly pulled out of the car, grabbed by the hair and received savage beating from those security guards when she just wanted to ask for some information. Then the lady was taken away by a police car.
.
In addition, 40 staff dressed in police uniforms broke into the quarter at about 20:00p.m. and beat anyone they met, threatening to give the occupants of the quarter a lesson. As a result, 5 people got wounded and another 3 were arrested. With different bruises on the body, especially the injuries to the face and head, which were bleeding badly, the 5 injured people were rushed to the hospital. Another female occupant was run down by a car just now when she protested to safeguard the rights. The driver not only left the injured lady on the road, but also intended to hurt other residents while the policemen was just standing nearby, showing no emotion. We called 110(the emergency telephone number), but they would not step in to stop the violence. We are being hurt one by one and still haven't received any news from the arrested neighbors. Now Li Shui People can only depend on ourselves; only unity in good faith can protect our home and legitimate rights and interests, and prevent us from harming again！
.
We have been trying to get the media's support since the incident happened, hoping that the whole thing can be widely exposed to the public. However, after contacting with Chongqing Daily, Chongqing Times, Chongqing Real Estate and Chongqing TV station, the answers were either “the authorities have ordered no one can report this” or simply no reply at all. Only one reporter from a portal website came to cover the events and make the gathering material a 7-minute short video and publish it on the Internet.
.
The occupants of the quarter tried to report the truth to the government through the mayor's public telephone and mail box, but it's just like a stone dropped into the sea, no response at all.
.
Because it's an emergency, the occupants immediately dial 110 to ask for help, but the 110 replied: the developer is executing the government's order.
.
We can't believe, our cozy home where we have been living for 4 years can be brazenly spoiled by the diggers over one morning, leaving a trail of destruction and completely destroyed walls; we can't believe, the policemen could stand with the developer's goons, cruelly beating the unarmed and totally innocent residents; we can't believe, in a democratic country under the rule of law, the law-abiding citizens even can't protect their own legitimate property, which can be handily snatched away by an official document! We can't believe, whom we can still believe in…?

The intentional violence reported by the occupants living in Li Shui Residential quarter was promptly spread among the netizens and almost all the people were greatly shocked by the bloody scenes. Nevertheless, such negative influence which were obviously derogate from the harmonious principles, were subsequently restricted by the Internet regulators. Many BBSs canceled all the posts related to the reports about Li Shui Residential quarter or turned down new comments on the events so that the relevant posts could be rapidly out of the first page, and the only video report made by the mentioned professional journalist was removed, either. (In fact, the journalist only published the video in a personal blog) Even so, the people living in or near Li Shui residential quarter still persisted in publishing information on the situation through some relatively freer sites like ifeng, mop and daqi.com.

Today(April 2) several other people are arrested by the criminal policemen who apparently planed to pin the crime of assaulting police officer on our occupants. The conflict last night is just a put-up job made by those muggers; they want to provoke the conflict between the occupants and police, so that they can find excuse to crackdown the protest to cover the inside stories that the officials are conspiring with the developer. Clearly, the occupants only had a clash with developer's security guards(thugs in fact); when did the officials engage? Even if they let those thugs put on the police uniforms (they had done it last time), why are there only pictures of the injured occupants? Why don't those officials present at that time take any pictures of the so called wounded “public servants”, even not in the hospital?(only the government officials are allowed to take pictures. Any photos taken by the residents are forced to be confiscated and anyone refuse to do so will be beaten or arrested. You may directly see how hard to take pictures through those photos above) The authorities can arrest people without any evidence; how did such lawless thing happen in a municipality? How dark it is!

Now even the hospital（the Affiliated Hospital, Chongqing Medical University)where the injured occupants receive treatment is under surveillance of the plainclothes police and developer's thugs.
