Currently the editor of the Francophone region for Global Voices, I am a researcher in biomedical engineering and consultant in Global Health. Raised in Madagascar, I have a strong interest in international development and digital media as a tool to promote social change and transparency in the developing world. I am currently attending the Woodrow Wilson School of International Affairs and Public Policy at Princeton U to further that specific interest. I am also part of the core team of the Foko , an NGO driven to promote the online exposure of social grassroots projects based in Madagascar. For the past week, Antananarivo, the capital city of Madagascar, has experienced scheduled daily  power outages [fr]  that lasted on average 2h and 30 minutes in the evening and it seems that it could get worse [fr].  Several bloggers have expressed [fr] increased frustration [mg] with the ongoing situation that was also reflected on many twitter updates.

Madagascar

Baovola Rajaosafara, president of the National Committee to Fight against the Illicit Sale of Drugs ( CNLCMIM in French),  declares that it is too costly and inefficient to arrest illegal sellers of drugs and that they will strive to increase awareness in the general population instead [fr]. Purchasing drugs at illicit selling points is on the rise because the majority of the population cannot afford the current selling prices at pharmacies and hospitals.
