Migrant Workers Shooting in Greece Sets Off #BloodStrawberries Boycott

After supervisors shot and injured more than 30 undocumented migrant workers from Bangladesh in the strawberry farms of Nea Manolada for demanding months of owed wages, netizens launched an international boycott of the "blood" strawberries from the area.

Serbia: First Conviction for Online Hate Speech

The High Court in Belgrade has recently brought its first conviction for online hate speech, sentencing Simo Vladičić to three months in prison and two years of probation for threatening members of the LGBT community via the Facebook group 500.000 Srba protiv gej parade/500,000 Serbs against gay parade in September 2011, when the gay pride parade in Belgrade was canceled due to security reasons. In a similar case, the European Court of Human Rights has recently ruled that hate speech against members of the LGBT community cannot be justified by the right to freedom of speech.

Bosnia & Herzegovina: Citizens Policing Traffic Violations in Sarajevo

Using the Facebook page [bs] “Moj grad, moja sigurnost, moja odgovornost” (“My city, my security, my responsibility”), Sarajevo residents are uploading pictures of illegally parked cars and reckless drivers, trying to convince the authorities to take action and protect pedestrians. According to the administrators of the page, there has been enormous response from the people who decided to take the problem of transport culture into their own hands.
