Prensa Comunitaria was founded in 2004 with the objective to empower the Puerto Rican communities through the creation of media. The board president, Samuel Rosario, talked with Global Voices about the birth of the project, its work in the communities, the importance of citizen journalism, and the relationships with traditional media.

Venezuela: Nuclear Energy Deal with Russia
President Hugo Chávez met with his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, in Russia on October 14. At the meeting they signed a "plan of action" on different issues; among them, building a nuclear plant in Venezuela. Venezuela is the first Latin American country to sign an atomic energy deal with Russia.

Dominican Republic: Digital TV in 2015
September 24th 2015 is the set date by the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) to make the definitive transition to digital television.
