hay muchísimas personas que no están dispuestas a aceptar este hecho, por entenderlo como una imposición, cuando vivimos en una democracia, en la que teóricamente habría que consultar a los ciudadanos. Así, rápidamente se han convocado […] numerosas concentraciones para exigir, de forma pacífica, la realización de un referéndum a través del que los ciudadanos puedan manifestar si quieren vivir en una monarquía o en una república. Hay que reconocer que la consulta es lo más democrático que podría hacerse ahora mismo, pero antes de votar hay que informarse, no vale reclamar la III República únicamente por aborrecer la monarquía, como hacen muchos, sin tener idea siquiera de las diferencias entre ambos modelos de Estado. De tener lugar el referéndum, creo que a pesar de las críticas a la monarquía, los republicanos podrían sorprenderse con el resultado.

Thus, […] numerous rallies have been called on to demand, pacifically, a referendum so citizens might be able to express if they want to live in a monarchy or a republic. We have to acknowledge that the consultation is the most democratic thing that can be done right now, but before voting we have to inform ourselves, it's not enough to call for the III Republic just because we abhor monarchy, as many people do, without having the slightest idea of the differences between both State models. If a referendum is carried out, I think that in spite of criticisms to monarchy, republicans might be surprised with the result.
