The Russian government has banned a popular advertisement for Ostankino meat products. The ad, titled “Daddy Can,” features a father taking his son to work, recklessly driving an Ostankino meat delivery truck through crowded streets.
In a statement published earlier today, Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service announced that police say the commercial breaks Russia’s advertising laws, which forbid the depiction of illegal acts, including traffic violations and the endangerment of children.
Ostankino’s “Daddy Can” advertising campaign has been running for several years. The commercials frequently celebrate fathers for slovenly but loveable behavior, like eating too loudly or packing unreasonably large lunches.
With the truck-driving “Daddy Can” commercial banned, it will be interesting to see if the Russian government demands that YouTube remove copies of the video, where it has several hundred views.
