Sinica Podcast [1] invites Leta Hong Fincher, author of “Leftover Women [2]“, a book about the state of women's rights and gender equality in modern China.

The podcast [1] discusses hidden problems and obstacles that Chinese women are facing in society including domestic violence and the “leftover women” issue.

It's worth noting that according to the author, state media's propaganda, family-driven values and legal customs in things like the housing market “all effectively conspire to roll back much of the progress on gender equality China has made over the last twenty years.”
