Jon Stewart mocked China’s space race, suggesting it was outdated and pointless on “The Daily Show” [2] on Dec. 16. Chinese netizens and news agencies shared the video on the Twitter-like Weibo, quickly attracting numerous netizens watching and commenting. The majority of commenters find the funny and the host is nicknamed as “囧叔”, Embarrassed Uncle [1], after Jon’s pronunciation. Some think it reflects the absurdity of China’s space race which is following the example of the Soviet Union while hundreds of millions of people are still living below the poverty line.
