GV Face: 200,000 Dominicans of Haitian Descent Stripped of Citizenship

GV Face This post is about GV Face, our Weekly Hangout Series, where we discuss trending topics from citizen and social media around the world. · All Posts

The Dominican Constitutional Court's decision to strip citizenship, from everyone born in the country to immigrants with an illegal status since 1929, has left at least 200,000 Dominicans of Haitian descent stateless.

On this week's GV Face, we'll be discussing the Dominican court ruling that narrows the definition of citizenship with severe consequences for thousands of people.

Our managing editor Solana Larsen speaks to:

- Pamela Martínez Achecar who writes about the Dominican Republic on Global Voices. She'll be telling us about how the situation has been developing on the ground, as well as on social media.
