Over 800 of us from all over the world work together to bring you stories that are hard to find by yourself. But we can’t do it alone. Even though most of us are volunteers, we still need your help to support our editors, our technology, outreach and advocacy projects, and our community events.

gv-meetup-logo-gvmeetup-400Following the successful Global Voices Meetups in Karachi, Cairo, and Kampala, we are pleased to announce the next gathering will take place in Southeast Asia on December 1, 2013.

The meetup in Phnom Penh, Cambodia will be hosted by Global Voices community members Sopheap Chak (@jusminesophia) and Ramana Sorn (@ramanasorn), and will take place at Sithi Hub, #6, Street 264, Sangkat Chatumuk from 9 am to 1 pm.

The Meetup will also bring together some of the authors and translators from the GV community. They are eager to share their experiences and hear about the ideas for projects from meetup attendees. In addition, the event will focus on:

  • Providing an overview of the work that we do at Global Voices, including Rising Voices, Advox, and Lingua
  • Sharing ways that the wider community can get involved with Global Voices
  • Networking activities so that participants can share information about their own digital projects or ideas for projects
  • Discussing the next steps to facilitate a local network of individuals and organizations using citizen media in their work

If you are interested in taking part, please contact Sopheap or Ramana, as space is limited. You can also send an email to: rising [at] for more information. Please follow the hashtag #GVMeetup for this and other meetups from around the world.
