On Tuesday February 12, 2013, a group of Mauritanian activists staged [2] [ar] a protest in front of the Egyptian Embassy [3] in Nouakchott, the Mauritanian capital, against sexual harassment and rape which Egyptian women are being subject to in Cairo's Tahrir Square.

The event [4] was organized by “Etkelmi” (Speak up in Arabic) [5] [ar – fr], an NGO fighting against rape in Mauritania. Mekfoula Brahim [6] salutes all those who took part in it [ar]:

شكرا لكم يا مواطنو ا العالم على وقفتكم امام السفارة المصرية فى انواكشوط لدعم نساء مصر اللائى يمارسن حقهن فى التظاهر السلمى فى مصر وعلينا جميعا القيام بوقفة اخرى احتجاجا على دعم الارهاب علنا من طرف الكثيرين والتأصيل له فى ثقافتنا المنفتحة

Thank you citizens of the world for protesting in front of the Egyptian Embassy in Nouakchott to support Egyptian women who are exercising their right to protest peacefully in Egypt. We should all stage another demonstration against those (many) who publicly back terrorism and who are trying take away our open (liberal) culture.
