[1]Iranian human rights activist, lawyer and Sakharov Prize [2] winner Nasrin Sotoudeh [3] has been on hunger strike for more than four weeks in reaction to the restrictions imposed on her family and the mistreatment of political prisoners by the Iranian authorities.
Nasrin's husband, Reza Khandan posted [4] [fa] this update on Facebook on the evening of November 12, 2012, saying that her children were able to see her for the first time in 4 months.
Mr. Khandan wrote in this post:
Last night they called me from Evin prison and told me to bring the children to prison today. The children met their mother for minutes and out of the meeting hall in the presence of security officers. Unfortunately they did not allow me or any other person to accompany the children to the meeting point.
According to Mr. Khandan’s post, “Mehraveh, her teenager daughter, said her mother has lost weight and sometimes she goes to the health office of the prison.”
Iranians flooded the internet to show their support for the jailed lawyer.
Flower for Nasrin
Iranians have shown their support for her through on Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Mohammad Reza Jalaeipour, a student activist currently based in London, suggested that supporters change their profile pictures to an image of a flower (Nasrin in Persian) on social networks in support of her hunger strike.
Nasrin wrote her defense on a “napkin”
Here is a video saying that Nasrin Stoudeh who defended several political prisoners, was not given the right to write her defense on paper. She wrote everything on a napkin.
The Internet is not the only place that Iranians talked about jailed lawyer, several demonstrations have been held outside Iran to protest against Stoudeh's detention.
