The watchdog for accuracy in news reporting in Japan reports [2] [ja] in its website gohoo.org [3] that several major Japanese newspapers have recently written posts on the Senkaku (Diaoyu) Islands, which are currently part of an ownership dispute with China (for example [4]), based on false information.
A tweet from @watchdog_japan [5] [ja] warns:

According to Jiji press [6] [en, ja], Hiroshi Majima, who heads the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters in Naha told Okinawa's Lieutenant Governor Yoshiyuki Uehara that information that a large number of Chinese fishing boats were heading for the Senkaku Islands in Okinawa Prefecture was false.
