China: A Portrayal of Portrayals of Cultural And Ethnic Stereotypes

Zhang Xu (“Nick in the House”), a comedic vlogger from northeast China, recently put together a video to showcase different cultural and ethnic stereotypes from a distinctly Chinese perspective.

Mostly in English with Chinese subtitles, Zhang's video blends different accents, pop culture references, and dramatic background music as he portrays a caricature, respectively, of a person from Japan, Korea, India, Britain, France, Italy, America, Russia and China, each trying to introduce their own culture or country to a foreigner.

Offended yet? In just four days, Nick's video has received more than 17,000 comments and 500,000 views.

If you like this or want to hear more/better accent rendering, check Sarah Jones, one-woman global village at TED 2009
In this hilariously lively performance, actress Sarah Jones channels an opinionated elderly Jewish woman, a fast-talking Dominican college student and more, giving TED2009 just a sample of her spectacular character range.

Why is China continuing to persecute religious minorities like the underground Church for their faith in Jesus Christ? Why do they imprison and torture the followers of Jesus and yet the followers of Mao (those in power) remain free while they have such a terrible history of death. Three men are responsible for the most death in human history, Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. These men will burn eternally in hell for the evil legacy of death and pain inflicted on so many. Why do China’s leaders still cling to the evil of communism in the face of this terrible history?
