There’s nothing like a change in weather to get people talking, and in a desert country, what’s more exciting than rain?

Residents of Qatar got a bit of rain and reactions on Twitter was a mix of shock, awe, confusion, and wishes for more to come.

Monday evening offered a bit of foreshadowing for the pleasant gift to come.

Tuesday didn't get off to a great start:

@WeatherSteff: A dusty Doha day and getting worse. Winds increasing, gusts to 50kph later…and chance of rain (perhaps thunderstorms?!) from 6pm onwards.

But sprinkles began in the afternoon, stopping and starting sporadically through the rest of the day.
