As lionfish continue to pose a danger to coral reefs in the U.S. Virgin Islands, News of St. John reports that the government's strategy to eliminating the threat is: “If you can't beat ‘em, eat ‘em.”
In response to the Can’t Beat them, Eat them. They put the cart before the horse. The UVI gave 4 Lionfish to NOAA for tests of Cigutera Poisoning. 3 out of the 4 Lionfish submitted were VERY HIGH with CIG. DON”T EAT THE FISH till more data is put out there with Confirmed areas where Lionfish won’t be Poisonous as well as Venomous.
