Middle East: World Cup Final Thoughts

Psychic octopus Paul was right and Spain clinched the World Cup in the football finals, which ended in South Africa a few minutes ago. In the Arab World, Twitter users shared a few thoughts on the finale and the tournament overall.

Spain faced the Netherlands in the finale which spilled into extra time before Andres Iniesta scored the winning goal.

For one Twitter user, the end of the World Cup signals an important development. Mansour Fekry tweets in capital letters:

Mondial finalists are the countries i consider for post doc. Let's raise the stakes: i'll apply the one who wins tonight!

The winning goal from Iniesta ushered good news and a triumphant Carmel tweeted:

I knew it! Post doc in Barcelona it is. Thank u, Iniesta.

From the UAE, Sultan Al Qassemi tweets:

Respect to South Africa for pulling off a safe & well organised World Cup. The fact that it was mostly boring was not their fault.
