The Armenian Observer posts a video by a British-Armenian band, VO.X., saying that the song, I Love Armenia, contains some powerful messages. However, while Unzipped:Gay Armenia agrees to some extent, it also notes that the messages are not always positive. This is especially true for what the blog says is blatant homophobia which undermines the value of messages about poverty and other important issues facing the former Soviet republic. The blog notes that this is particularly ironic as the song uses a poem by a significant Armenian cultural icon, Yeghishe Charents, also but lesser known for his homo-erotic poetry. It has also has since placed VO.X in its Homphobia Wall of Shame.

Here is my response: http://ourmine.wordpress.com/2011/03/07/official-disclaimer-statement-re-music-video-i-love-armenia/?preview=true&preview_id=932&preview_nonce=999d527267
UPDATE: VO.X frontrunner Aram Rian has re-edited and replaced the controversial portion of the band’s “I Love Armenia” music video, by removing the reference to homosexuality as “perversion”. We have reached a mutual understanding with the group and consider this matter resolved as dialogue has taken place. We no longer have reason to believe either Aram Rian or VO.X is homophobic, and we wish them success in their future endeavors.
