The Big Issue Hits Taiwan

Taiwan is the 9th country that publishes The Big Issue. Li Chi Zhong, the founder of Roodo Blog, introduces this model to Taiwan with a hope to develop a new type of social business. One month before publishing the first issue, bigissue.tw started its Facebook fan page to recruit volunteers. So far it has 27,000 fans.

On Maneno, a blogging platform dedicated to meet the needs of sub Saharan Africa bloggers, schauzeri wonders why Conguitos, a renown sweets company in Spain, retained their current logos despite the offensive undertones for Africans [article also available in spanish]. According to schauzeri, The offensive logos, which have been in circulation since 1960's, do not seem to be perceived as a problem in Spain.

The faithful can now have the Visita Iglesia, or the traditional Filipino custom of visiting at least seven churches where they can commemorate the fourteen Stations of the Cross on Holy Thursday, online. The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines recently launched the “online Visita Iglesia” for those “who cannot make the church visit for some valid reason.”

Podvezu_msk Livejournal community, which opened after the recent bombings in Moscow, is used by drivers-bloggers to offer a ride to those who don't want to use a subway.
