He wrote a book in the 1920s titled _Propaganda_ which Joseph Goebbels admired and learned from. I met him a couple of times in his old age when I tried to arrange a televised conversation between Bernays and Noam Chomsky about propaganda and the news. Bernays was all for it until he read Chomsky's book _Manufacturing Consent_, a play on Bernays' own book _Engineering of Consent_. Then he refused to participate and the project died.
