First of all if we wanted to show Russia a sign of peace and good will, why would we harp on the need to reset the past instead of looking toward the future? I think an olive branch would have been a much more appropriate symbol to use in this situation. Its simple, direct, and more importantly a time tested, universal symbol for peace and prosperity which is, after all, what we wish to obtain with the Russians in the future.
