Alejandro Perez of Bloggers Cuba [es] responds to an interview given by Boris Moreno, Vice-Minister of Information Technology and Communications and his outlook for the Internet in Cuba in the year 2011. Perez sees some contradictions when Moreno says that “we (the Ministry) are not interested in restricting the use of new technologies for information and communication…” however, he is also hopeful for the new fiber optic from Venezuela to be installed by early 2010.

The fiber optic from Venezuela enable cuba surpass the US embargo on nearby undersea cable access and overcome the current limits of satellite-only connectivity. Thus the greater number of citizens would have internet access.
