The crosses are still closed with a totally destroyed infrastructure 26/Jan/2009. How long this ceasefire will hold under this blockade? It will be extremely interesting to have a discussion about what have we learned after this saga? In my opinion there were few noticeable upshots:
• Olmert reminds the World who Controls America.
• The impotency of International Institutions.
• The total absence of any trustworthy moral authority against the carnage.
• An absolute Media surrender and PR triumph and gagging of any dessent vis-à-vis Israel.
However, the most comical development has come from the UK “The BBC’s refusal to broadcast an aid appeal for Gaza is destroying their impartiality”. A BBC that has a board of Governors and Executive Board that are extremely well represented by all ideological orientations of British Jewry, starting from the acting chairman Anthony Salz to the Rabbi’s daughter Jenny Abramsky and the Rothschild family connection Marcus Agius……………

Here we go again the cycle starts again. The crosses are still closed. Gaza is still locked down. There was some shelling from the Israeli navy this morning 21/01/09 from the sea. The media is already starting to regard the issue as old news. I do not know how long this truce will hold out? In few weeks or days the Palestinians will send rockets or starve and Israel will cry wolf again. This routine has only one objective, it is designed to force the Palestinians to abdicate their legitimate rights and accept a dictated unjust resolution of the conflict.

Jillian please, you dont know whats going on in gaza right now… Hamas is responsible for the deaths of the palestinian people in gaza, they are shooting rockets out of residential buildings, taking refuge in hospitals and mosques… their millitary bunker in under the biggest hospital in gaza city… so please dont give me this nonsense of Israelis massacring palestinian people… if you didnt read my last post, over the last 60 years 11 million muslims were killed civilians and non civilians.. but only 35,000 were killed in israeli conflicts… keep in mind that this is over 60 years, and that these wars were started by the muslim nations surrounding israel. so why is it that when millions of muslims die due to civil wars and other conflicts with other conflicts no one seems to have a problem with it… but when israel is involved then everyone starts to get angry..? did anyone protest when 1.8 million people died in the soviet/afgani conflict from the 1980’s till 2001? you people are blind.. iraeli and muslim conflicts have only accounted for .3 % of the muslim deaths since 1948… what do you have to say to that?

And yes jillian i know about this law they are trying to pass… please don’t assume that i do not know what is going on in my own country. (i personaly think it is wrong to keep arabs out of our elections) but this post was delayed due to a violent video that that i posted, which showed hamas members killing fatah members, and how brutaly they do so… i understand that the link can not be posted on this website, but jillian and anyone else who wants to see these so called “resistance fighters” at their best, go to yahoo videos and search for “hamas kills fatah” i warn you that this video is very violent. but sometimes you have to be shocked into seeing the truth

Manus you are either blind to the truth or just so stubborn that you cant see it. I never said that we are trying to catch up to all of this blood shed. I am posting these statistics so that people like you, and the others who only speek up when israel is involved, can see that the real problem is muslim conflicts between the radicals and non radicals (innocent people) these conflicts or clensing like the radicals would sya is what is causing most of the muslim deaths in the last 60 years. It is very disgusting that no one says anything when the muslim people are slaughtered by these radical islamists, but when israel is involved all of you people start protesting… israel is the only peacful democracy in the whole middle east, and we are surrounded by people who constanltly want our destruction. we are attacked from all sides, and for 8 years we did close to nothing while they lobbed bombs into our towns, into my friends homes, into our kindergardens, into our shopping malls, and dont forget the onslaught of suicide bombers in the last ten years that killed hundreds of innocent people. Enough is Enough, it is time that we defend our country and put an end to this terror.

Just imagine what would happen if all of a sudden mexico started shooting rockets into san diego..? The US would be in there in a heartbeat, and i assure you that any other country would do the same if they were being blindly targeted by inacurate bombs that are aimed at homes and civilian areas… WE HAVE LET THESE TERRORISTS COMMIT THESE CRIMES FOR TOO LONG, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

The sheer fact that you are an Israeli is not enough to change my mind, sorry. I have plenty of friends in Gaza and the West Bank and their accounts are as meaningful, if not significantly more so, than yours.

And Israel’s Arab population is treated as equals? Really? Is that why they’re trying to pass something that won’t allow Arab parties to run in the elections?

And jillian who are you to make these accusations… are you in gaza at the moment.. do you see what is happening?? are you in the middle east right now… i am an israeli, my friends and family are fighting right now… and i think that if you saw what was going on in gaza you would be at a loss. we take injured civilians from gaza into our hospitals and we take care of them like our own… name one arab nation that would do the same for an israeli? Israels population consists of 22% palestinian arabs that are treated equally, and have the same rights as any other israeli citizen. name one muslim country that would do the same. you have no right to make these accusations against me and my country. you need to wake up and see the truth.

This is exactly why I called you a demagogue. You are using a quote from a loony who has nothing to do with this conflict and try to amalgamate it with what is going on in Gaza and the rest of the other issues in the Islamic world. There are a number of very radical, very extreme religious groups operating in Israel. To take one quote of a member of Gush Emunim, and claim it represents the official position of the Jews worldwide is simply immoral. There are a lot of Jewish Orthodox fanatics who do not even recognise the existence of a Palestinian entity and they hold about 22% of the seats in the Knesset (i.e.: National Religious Party (NRP)). Extremist rabbi Yousef Falay, who dwells at the Yitzhar settlement on illegally seized Palestinian land in the northern part of the West Bank, wrote an article in an Israeli magazine Lahba, under the title “Ways of War”, in which he called for the killing of all Palestinian males refusing to flee their country, describing his idea as the practical way to ensure the non-existence of the Palestinian race. Is this the opinion of the Jews worldwide? Do all the Jews support a Palestinian final solution? So before you start making irresponsible comments willy-nilly make sure that they are representative and accurate.

ACT has posted a set of statistics that demonstrates the real violence against Muslims, it is not Jews, Christians or even America that is leading the pack in Muslim Genocide, but rather other Muslims. These numbers (almost 10 million killed by other Muslims) defy rationality and surely anyone with half a brain can see where the real problem lies. Islam may or may not be a peaceful religion, but the people who dominate the religion and are the face that the world sees as representation of the religion, surely are far from peaceful.

The Arab-Israeli conflict is often said, not just by extremists, to be the world’s most dangerous conflict – and, accordingly, Israel is judged the world’s most belligerent country.

For example, British prime minister Tony Blair told the U.S. Congress in July 2003 that “Terrorism will not be defeated without peace in the Middle East between Israel and Palestine. Here it is that the poison is incubated. Here it is that the extremist is able to confuse in the mind of a frighteningly large number of people the case for a Palestinian state and the destruction of Israel.”

This viewpoint leads many Europeans, among others, to see Israel as the most menacing country on earth.

But is this true? It flies in the face of the well-known pattern that liberal democracies do not aggress; plus, it assumes, wrongly, that the Arab-Israeli conflict is among the most costly in terms of lives lost.

To place the Arab-Israeli fatalities in their proper context, one of the two co-authors, Gunnar Heinsohn, has compiled statistics to rank conflicts since 1950 by the number of human deaths incurred. Note how far down the list is the entry in bold type.

This grisly inventory finds the total number of deaths in conflicts since 1950 numbering about 85,000,000. Of that sum, the deaths in the Arab-Israeli conflict since 1950 include 32,000 deaths due to Arab state attacks and 19,000 due to Palestinian attacks, or 51,000 in all. Arabs make up roughly 35,000 of these dead and Jewish Israelis make up 16,000.

These figures mean that deaths Arab-Israeli fighting since 1950 amount to just 0.06 percent of the total number of deaths in all conflicts in that period. More graphically, only 1 out of about 1,700 persons killed in conflicts since 1950 has died due to Arab-Israeli fighting.

(Adding the 11,000 killed in the Israeli war of independence, 1947-49, made up of 5,000 Arabs and 6,000 Israeli Jews, does not significantly alter these figures.)

In a different perspective, some 11,000,000 Muslims have been violently killed since 1948, of which 35,000, or 0.3 percent, died during the sixty years of fighting Israel, or just 1 out of every 315 Muslim fatalities.
