Dear Zainab,
good to hear from you again, I missed you! Don't you think, since this conversation gets more and more personal, that you should write me directly and exclude the rest of our readers here? Please.

Hello :)

I still alive ;) I cannot keep on without taking a break regarding politics: I have not watch news 4 several days! so, I'd like to share u this email, I just got it.

Handbook 2009

Handbook 2009
Health:
1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.
5. Make time to practice meditation, yoga, and prayer.
6. Play more games.
7. Read more books than you did in 2008.
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
9. Sleep for 7 hours.
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk every day. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:
11. Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
13. Don't over do. Keep your limits.
14. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
16. Dream more while you are awake.
17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
23. Smile and laugh more.
24. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Society:
25. Call your family often.
26. Each day give something good to others.
27. Forgive everyone for everything.
28. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
29. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
30.. What other people think of you is none of your business.
31. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Life:
32. Do the right thing!
33. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful..
34. GOD heals everything.
35. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
36. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
37. The best is yet to come.
38. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.
39. Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

Last but not the least:
40. Please Forward this to everyone you care about.

:)

Dear Dena,
I'm sorry if I disappointed you. I don't "want to lump you together with the masses", I simply referred to the fact that Americans and Europeans have different ways of talking about politics. It's awfully easy to get a foot in the mouth there, as I probably just did. Sorry.

Good Morning Folks,

Dorte says:

Dena asks “wonder who Zeev was for”. Really, that from an American? I thought they are offended at the question.

Now Dorte, you have disappointed me. You have lumped me together with the masses. I'm used to it. If that is what you believe, far be it for me to change your thinking.

Before Obama was in office, I was threatened with being blown up on a thread. I was a little tired of this rhetoric, so I replied: "Go ahead blow me up, because I'm part of the 49% trying to keep you alive! And if you blow us up, I know what the other 51% will do to you." LOL

I received your e-mail on Google. Plus a couple of other interesting ones. We must still have followers in this thread. I had forgotten the password, so it took me awhile to get that straightened out. You think I have courage in giving out an e-mail address? Really though, on a computer anything someone else might do (or has done) can be undone. (Actually I've a stalker following me around for seven years, so I'm used to it.) I am courageous; I admit. Some think to the point of insanity, and they're probably right. LOL

I always send you a video, so here's one of my favorites.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbM_jHol0JA

I haven't heard from Zainab or Zeev. I think Zeev is probably back in his bunker. Oh well, we can't win them all; and we never will.

Calm seas and fair skies to you,
Dena "Robin"

Dena asks "wonder who Zeev was for". Really, that from an American? I thought they are offended at the question. Now I wonder, are Israelis offended as well? (Yes, always). Let's try:
Zeev, are you still reading on? I've got an admission to make: I experimented. I applied Kurt Tucholsky's techniques on you. Yes, this is becoming a course in litarature, I know. You probably don't know him (bad luck), but never mind, I'll explain: If you want to get at the morals of a group (any group), find the specimen they can only just put up with. That's the one you can hold the group responsible for. You will have guessed by now that I mean Israel's political landscape. I've read a lot of comments on this (and other) sites from other Israelis, where I think even the average Israeli can only think of the loony bin. Not you. Your views are outragious, I think, but not to those who rely on the Israeli press. If you think I provoked you, you are perfectly right. I did and I enjoyed it. Firstly, I can't see why provoking should be your privilege. Secondly, all the time I had been conversing with you, I hoped that I had found Tucholsky's guinea pig, but I have very great doubts. But for all my provoking you, I can tell you one thing: although your views drive me to fury, I feel at the same time sympathy for you.
Now, can you answer me one question? Would you say your views are the dead norm in Israel or are you a Tucholskyan guinea pig?

Dena, I tried to mail you, but obviously you haven't received anything. Try the other way round please:

Please feel free to write to me as well Dorte. After all, we are from the "Motherland." LOL I don't know about you, but none of us have blond hair and blue eyes. LOL I like to say I have a German constitution (3/4) with an English gut (1/4) since my digestive system is a genetic nightmare, since I push myself forward when I should know better. I wish that I had been schooled in more languages. My English Grandmother raised me, and she made it known she was not leaving the U.S. She always called herself a "mental traveler."

I did hear of the election; very confusing. This Litvi said she would liquefy Hamas!?! I confess I am not aware of how this will be decided from here. They are like an old man with a giant chip on his shoulder. And God forbid a seeker of peace emerges, he/she has a price on his head the moment he opens his/her mouth. Wonder who Zeev was for? I will never forget Arafat coming to meet Clinton with those six guns on each side. I'll bet the secret service freaked, but we all know that Clinton is who allowed that. Knowing Bill he probably felt better about it, too. 17 times he came in those 8 years. You can't say we haven't tried.

I will see what I can dig up from my collections of old trunks on my Hagedorn side. Glad to hear that it is not that common.

I fear for Zainab for many reasons, but for her spirit the most. It is hard for anyone to have hope for this earth, but I'm proof it can be done. One time someone told me if I kept shaking my head, it would one day fall off. I received a lecture in the mail from one of our senators today telling me EXACTLY why he was apposed to the Dream Act. I'm ill with him right now. This was handtyped and signed. A whole page. He could have just summarized, but obviously that is an open wound and I was his salt that day. LOL

Next time you find a thread where their is actual discourse look me up. I am not familiar with opera. I listened to Chopin as a child, but no opera. But I think you will enjoy this. I cried when I heard the story, and then the dance.

Please watch them in order.

I can't believe that I've been touched by an Angel either!
I wish you fair skies and calm seas,

Next time you find a thread where their is actual discourse look me up. I am not familiar with opera. I listened to Chopin as a child, but no opera. But I think you will enjoy this. I cried when I heard the story, and then the dance.

Please watch them in order.

I can’t believe that I’ve been touched by an Angel either!
I wish you fair skies and calm seas,
Peace,

I am a bit puzzled today. I agree to Zainab, I can't see much of a difference between Netanyahu, Livni and Barak, so it didn't matter much who would win the elections. But now nobody has won (or as they say - of course! - they all won), what will happen next? They will try endlessly to form a government, which will work for a few weeks, and then they will vote again, I presume. And Israeli voters are so much easier convinced, if some blood flows (Palestinian blood of course). Dena, I wish I could share your belief in Obama! On second thoughts: not necessarily Palestinian blood. Iranian? Dena, you shouldn't take statements like "wiping Israel off the map" too serious. Dogs that bark don't bite. Proverbs again. This one is not always true, but pretty often.

You asked if Ahmadinedjad was aware that the fallout wouldn't kill Israelis alone. I think he is, he isn't stupid, but I don't think he would mind. Just a few martyrs, so what? But there is not only morals or whatever you want to call it, there is the economy as well (and more important, I think). Do you know how much the Iranian economy has declined during the last years? Iranian voters know! Getting enriched uranium is merely expensive, but making nukes is awfully expensive. Probably you can guess what the Iranian budget is based upon: oil. Do you know what price they calculated for the current budget? 90$ per barrel! In short, I don't worry much about Iranian nukes.

Right, Dena, I too would like to meet Zainab and you. Thanks, by the way for supplying me with music. Zainab, don't be offended that I called the song you find "more than great" just good. I mean good (and not "not bad"!), but for my taste there is a bit too much sugar in it. Next week there is a beautiful concert in Hamburg, Dena, and I've got a ticket: Baroque opera (of Hamburg). That is getting my blood flowing a lot faster. Please note that operas in Hamburg and Venice were a lot different from operas in the rest of Europe, because these were the only republics. They had to sell tickets instead of being sponsored by princes. By the way, Zainab, although being a large city, Hamburg is very green, we have got a lot of trees in the streets, the center of our city is a lake and Hamburg is on a great river. It's not very far from the North sea. Besides we have already been an old republic when the first American discovered (to his dismay) Columbus.

Dena, "(von) Hagedorn" is not unusual, but by far not a common name as Smith. Are you sure the name was changed or did you grandfather just drop the "von"? "Haugedon" sounds unlikely. I can imagine an American immigration officer desperately trying to write down an illegible German name from a handwritten passport. If you've got some more information (date of birth or at least of immigration, place of birth), it should be possible to find out something. I'd love to help you.

Zainab I hope you didn't take the song about "walk on" as to leave this thread. I meant when everything may be falling apart, when you feel totally alone in the universe, God / Allah is right there in the center of it all, offering personal peace and hope. You have allowed Him into your life. He immediately begins "remodeling" who you are and how you live, and I believe He transforms His followers into representatives of His character in every situation. Maybe your efforts will not see fruition in your life time, but what about all the "others" you will come in contact who will carry on after you. Have no doubt in your path, and NEVER, EVER lose your HOPE!

Here's to the CRAZY ones.
The misfits. The rebels.
The so-called trouble-makers.
They're not fond on rules,
and they have no
respect for the status-quo
You can quote them,
disagree with them,
glorify or vilify them.
But the only thing you
can not do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They push the human race forward.
And while some may see them as
the crazy ones, I see genius
Because the people who are
crazy enough to think they can
change the world, are the ones that do.

I will miss this conversation immensely. Should ya'll decide that you wish to contact me my e-mail is: 2enter1leaves@gmail.com LOL I would truly love to stay in touch with you both. I have learned much from you both that I will carry with me. See I have no family. They are all deceased. Right before the last one passed over, I had an angel come to me. Yes, you read that correctly. I thought my mission would then be complete. The angel told me otherwise. So I'm still here for that reason alone. Meeting people like ya'll, telling your stories (I'm a writer) cements the conviction in my mind. Thank you for the time you have spent with me. It was not wasted!

Hi Ya'll,
Yes, I am female. My first name is Dena and the middle one is Robin. Being the 5th Dena is a row means you get a nickname or use your middle name. Actually, Robin is the female of Robert. Some people don't realize that when they name a boy Robin. I was named for my Great Uncle Robert.

During one of my German Grandfather's migration to the US his name was changed from Von Haugedon (sic - something like that) to Hagedorn. From the resources I have found this means "man who lives near hawthorn tree." You can't get much simpler than that. If you have any facts (such as the correct spelling of the surname or if it is about as common as someone name Smith) on this Dorte, I would love to hear them. My Uncle Hermann Hagedorn wasn't interested in lineage AT ALL, but upon his death I discovered he had been. LOL I think it is dust to dust myself, but find it somewhat interesting. Maybe it's that old Germanic Tribe blood that keeps me fighting for peace and honor of each other. I've always dreamed of meeting my relatives that stayed in Germany.

The article by Uri Avnery was remarkable. I wish I could hand that directly to President Obama. I have a friend here that has a Masters in History, and has taught by American text books while she knew what she should be saying. You aren't aloud in public schools to stray from the mandated curriculum. She did get to teach gifted children for several years, and could expand beyond the norm with those students. And even she questions our country's blinders when it comes to Israel.

We both agree that if you go through an American public school system, and you learn nothing further, I hate to say this but you aren't educated. If a child is able to pursue a good college education or even wants to, the gap
between 12th grade and college freshmen requirements is enormous.

When I attended the University of Texas, I took all of my freshmen and sophomore English and Lit courses. Each class (even if it was your last Lit class) you had to write a one page short story in the first class. Even if you had A's in all the other classes, but couldn't cohesively write a short story with proper structure, spelling and punctuation they threw you back to an 099 class to start over. I was amazed at how some of these kids passed 12th grade.

The only exceptions were for students going into science and mathematics. They could take technical writing, and that is why you find so many things in technology that are a grammatical mess. The athletes had some teachers that would pass them regardless. Students didn't know which one they were, so when a 6' guy walked in in sports attire and you never saw him the next day he had figured out this was a serious teacher.

Zainab, I can understand the Arab's idea that we would all be engaged it what our country and the world was doing. Did your 50 year old people at Thanksgiving realize that you didn't have pilgrims. LOL I don't know how many times I've had to remind people that we are the only people celebrating the coming together of American Indians and Pilgrims. It's embarrassing sometimes.

What we call the Mass Media here in America is what you see on television. If the Arab World believes that everyone here knows 1/2 of the information of this world that are sadly mistaken, and so am I. We don't have freedom of the press here any more. If it were not for the internet and satellites to pick up news from other countries, I don't know what we would do. President Obama wouldn't be here. That's a fact. He won due to reaching out to the real people. One of his points that he has hammered home is that some of these people is the House and Congress need to get out and meet the real people and in real America.

Dorte' I already thought jingoist was the definition of an Israeli. The only things we could come up with was old money and old political ties. That and a passage I have heard exists in the Bible about us protecting the Israelis that I can't seem to find. If they really want this soldier that was captured 700+ days ago before they negotiate, that may never happen (I think it's very doubtful myself). I believe President Obama wanted to engage the world much quicker, but his opponents want to bicker on how to get our house of cards economy in line first. He is wanting support from both parties, but the republicans are playing games. Hoping that this bill will fail, so they can say "I told you so!"

I may be wrong, but I don't think President Obama will play games with Israel. From what I've heard Hillary will be there next month, that's when things are going to heat up in regard to this conflict.

Israel asks us for weapons to attack Iran prior to the election, and Bush turned away (that must have been divine intervention). But I feel that they will find another country that will. And of course, we have heard that Ahmadinejad wants to wipe Israel off the map. So that only adds to the complexity of the issue. Does Ahmadinejad not realize that fallout will not only rain down on Israel, but all the countries around them?

Zainab, I would love to meet you. I know if my homeland was devastated it would break my heart. The only thing I can do is be a voice for you here in the U.S., and there a great many who agree with me. Zainab as the song says: Walk On! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2-qT1fjwA8

And Dorte I've just got to get your blood flowing faster.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjUih-09SZE

Peace,
Dena Robin

Zainab, being a foster-mother means one has to learn to say "I" very loudly. These children (with a family-history of addiction and violence) demand my attention all the time until I cease to be a person of my own. So I learnt pretty fast to use some of my time only for things I like. I feel better this way and that enables me to care better for the children. I wonder why you feel I can't be a woman? And I wonder about "Robin". As far as I know it's a name for both sexes. Dena? Robin? Can you explain?

Zainab, you probably missed the point about the Israeli academia because you didn't look up the Haaretz article.
Why shouldn't you see Israel as your enemy if you are Palestinian? It definitely is. The interesting point is: will it cease to be your enemy, will there be peace?

Zainab, you probably missed the point about the Israeli academia because you didn’t look up the Haaretz article.
Why shouldn’t you see Israel as your enemy if you are Palestinian? It definitely is. The interesting point is: will it cease to be your enemy, will there be peace?

Dorte & Dena,

Dorte, are you a foster-mam? Do you have enough time to read such articles regularly? or you are not only interested in politics but you are sort of "politician"??

Dena or Robin? I feel that Dorte could not be a "mam" but as to Dena I thought you are a female...hey folks you both are really experts in politics, Dorte, I didnt know that Dena was talking about the Israeli Academia? it seems you are specialist!

Away from the details that I'm not aware of yet, I'm a simple human being who is a Palestinian refugee who think that Israel is an enemy regardless of whom gana win in the their elections; I even don't care about the winner: it'll be another "merciful creature" !

Regards Dena, Robin Dorte or ....
