		<description>In response to Lavartus Prodeo&#039;s comment, yes, it was hot in Brisbane Square.  The organisers did a great job in informing people about how to avoid the risks, providing free sunscreen and icy poles to all comers, and directing protesters to nearby water fountains.  And at the end of the day, we&#039;re adults who can make our own decisions about the risks.

The rally was a step towards getting the attention of people out in &#039;meatspace&#039;.  It is certainly not the be-all-and-end-all of the campaign.  The media coverage may appear fleeting, but every little bit increases awareness of the cause.  We now need to follow it up with initiatives which will *keep* the issue in people&#039;s faces.

I might also suggest that people who have something constructive to contribute get involved with groups like &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.efa.org.au/&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;Electronic Frontiers Australia&lt;/a&gt; or the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.dlc.asn.au/&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;Digital Liberty Coalition&quot;&lt;/a&gt; and put their ideas into practice.</description>
