I am very impressed about the use of twitter to monitor Ghana elections. Looks like Africans are awakening finally, and taking advantage of technological tools like twitter to monitor their elections. I hope my Cameroonian folks will do the same, because its about time for some real change. I wonder if the use of twitter will help reduce corruption and fruad during elections. Bravo Ghana

[...] Polling closed in Ghana’s parliamentary and presidential elections yesterday afternoon, and early results are beginning to roll in, showing a very close presidential contest between Nana Akuffo Addo of the ruling NPP and Professor John Atta Mills of the NDC. From the Ghana Elections twitter feed, which is being updated several times an hour, “Provisional results(Prez elections) from102 (out of 230)constituencies: NPP-48%; NDC-49%; Others-3%.” This is certainly the first Ghanaian election to be twittered, and you can get a picture of both the excitement of voters and the relative smoothness of the voting process by monitoring Ghanaian twitter feeds.
“Does Ghana exist?”

its interesting like you said. it seems the western media would only announce bad news from Africa. and since the election has been calm and peaceful it is not news worthy. its a shame i checked on bbc for news this morning for about two hours and nothing was reported on the Ghanaian election. for me its ok it them not reporting meas there is peace on at least some part of the continetnt. i am left to believe they are disappointed as they expected trouble but thank God there hasnt been any.
