		<description>Julia - these are actually strictly speaking not text messages.  They are USSD messages, significantly cheaper than texts.  Praekelt has been in innovator in using these so-called &#039;call back&#039; messages in South Africa for social marketing. And the fact that they convinced MTN to donate a large number of USSDs for this project did not hurt either!  See http://mobileactive.org/please-call-me-messages-hiv-info-mobile-social-marketing-south-africa for more on how Praekelt is using them.  

I&#039;ll write more about the effectiveness of these messages as well -- because they are not texts and contain important information (i.e. who needs you to call) they have a different significance and are not going to be considered spam. I&#039;ll post a comment when that&#039;s up!</description>
