Whether that means Google will need to change its strategy or not is not clear at this point. It will be interesting to see what happens in other places like the U.K. when the service is introduced. People in France <a href="http://tech.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/05/10/0045206" rel="nofollow">don't seem so happy about it</a>... I guess that means "France is Special", too. (Google is a US company, of course.) The service has not yet launched in the UK, and we will see what happens here when it does. Japan and the UK are not very dissimilar in the layout of suburban housing, so similar issues about privacy may arise.
