It is astounding to read the statistics, however, as the writer points out there is so much delusion going into the partnership. Not just the couple, but baggage from generations of hearing the same thing over and over. This is the same sort of intelligent discussions my mother had with all four of her daughters. Three of us divorced and the baby, well she, I and her husband decided to hang tough. And things worked for them. It is often difficult when the media throws pornography, excitement, leisure, etc. constantly at people and their or my or anyone's expectations are not met. The key for me is expectations and they should be laid out on the table post haste.

Many men do not want to compromise. They see all around them as property. Many men are not this way at all. Women more than ever are seeing that marriage is not always going to be their saving grace. They have to secretely wonder "what will I do if" and this is a problem.

I find it interesting that I recently read an article concerning 36%. It seems people are finding possibly that failed marriages and single parent families are not always healthy and also that they prefer to be married to the same person. Since society has changed so much in the past 50-60 years and we have become global, perhaps the trends among the younger generations will change. I am praying for the best for them and the world.
