I have been involved in real estate for some time and the filling in of the lake is sheer lunacy.

I will not discuss the environmental ramifications as these are quite obvious to anybody with any sense and intelligence.

The point is that development of real estate around a lake, especially in the city centre, is a lucrative prospect in its own right. West Lake in Hanoi is a good example. The campaign against the filling up of the lake should at least develop a viable alternative that will make best use of the lake. The current situation of ramshackle backpacker hostels is not tenable.A development with real estate surrounding the lake including a small island in middle would be an ideal use of the area.

Good luck with your campaign and against the greed and stupidity of a small number of Cambodian citizens.

Regards Tony
