Egypt: A Racist Video Game

Muslim Massacre is a video game that has been released lately, where gamers have to use all sorts of weapons to kill as many Muslims and Muslim figures as they can, including ALLAH Almighty. Egyptian bloggers react.

Zeinobia is alarmed that young people are embracing violence is such a manner and enjoying themselves “wiping off” adherents of another religion:

I will not deny that it is disturbing because those who play these games are generally from the young generations who are raised upon the hate of another religion and its believers to that extent that they want to wipe them. Spreading the culture of violence through that means or way is not less dangerous than other ways of spreading the culture of violence. Video games in general are proving to be dangerous more and more, GTA inspired crimes are moving from North America to Asia.

Tarek echoes similar sentiments:

The issue here is not the game itself; it's that endless chain reaction that really scares me. The media, circumstances and fundamental Wahabis deeds started it a while ago, and they all succeeded in brainwashing people’s minds and created that evil Muslim stereotype in their minds. Then people like the Danish Cartoonists and this Computer Games Developer started to reproduce this stereotype and feed it back to the media and people around them. And frankly I can't tell how this endless loop will end. In fact some reasonable newspapers and TV channels in the west started to exert some efforts in order to stop all this, but it's now like an imp, once you get it out of its bottle, it's really hard to get it back there again.

  • Well, the game is back up and there is no apology whatsoever. I did report the presence of the game as abuse and complained that it even appeared. I asked them if they thought issuing one called “Christian Crush” would be a big seller in the US….somehow I kind of doubt it.

I would recommend a lot of abuse reports.

Wow…there is nothing funny or cute about that game. How disgustingly shameful.

Much if this is bull, fear and overkill. For most people who play video games they know.. just like watching tv or a movie, that it is not real. I have been playing video games since 1980 and I have not taken a single thing I have seen in a game to heart. I have shot millions of soldiers in the head from different countries all over the world and when I was done playing the game, never once felt like I wanted to go out and actually kill anyone.

The point is it is just a game. It was made for entertainment. If the author of the game really told people to go out and hurt Muslims that would be different.

I just played this game and I had to laugh..

Seriously.. have you seen/played it? The scary part about this game is Not the little guy going around shooting people.. (who don’t even look like stereotypical Muslims)

The scary part is the introduction where Dictator, er.. I mean President Bush is talking about all Muslims being Evil, and he asks for all countries come together to crush Islam with skill honor and courage.

If you listen to the intro you will see just how messed up Bush was. This is part of a real speech Bush made to the American people after 911.

In that light, can I see how the author was making fun of Bush’s wrong and radical policy? Yes I can.
