Bry,

I'm very okay with the Chinese gymnasts winning the gold, but you've failed to factor in some things in your argument. Do you honestly believe that countries like Romania, Russia, Japan, and others....including the US, DON'T have fabulous 14 year old gymnasts that were excluded from these games? There are thousands of little gymnastists just like He Kexin. Everyone knows that in gymnastics, the super flexible bodies of younger gymnasts and their dimunitive size gives them an advantage....and let's not forget that the rules were originally written to stop exploitation of these little girls. The rules in the Olympics are designed to level the field for atheletes. If the rules don't matter...only winning matters....then why not let some people use enhancement drugs?, bigger tennis rackets?, take short cuts in the marathon? Where do you draw the line and who gets to decide which rules are important and which ones don't matter?

He Kexin will have many Olympics to kick ass because she is astounding, and her age advantage will allow her many more attempts....however, some of her competitors who are of regulation age will not see another competition and this robs them of their chance to go home to their countries with a medal. Why should everyone else follow the age rule....but because China has a 14 year old phenom...they don't have to? If the rules should include underage gymnasts....then every country should be allowed to showcase their kickass little girls.

It's a question of ethics....and if these allegations are true....breaking the rules should carry the same exact consequences for everyone....gold medalists or not....kickass or not. He Kexin and the Chinese government will have to face the same shame that so many other countries have had to face. The US has certainly had to face the consequences of having their atheletes stripped of medals for breaking rules. Greece was stripped just the other day. If there's a crybaby in the bunch....it's the folks who think the rules don't apply to them.

At the end of the day, I support all gymnastic chicks (regardless of race) since they all worked so hard. Winners and losers deserve praise. I didn't mean to pick on Nastia earlier, but she has such a CUTE name for bashing. Nastia is a very cute chick. Shawn has round kitty eyes, and Kexin has almond shape kitty eyes. They are so adorable I would use them for advertisements in "Hello Kitty" ads. . . . eastern and western kitties

Seriously, Nastia already has many ads with her face shown on China's ATM machines. She already makes tons of money on Chinese advertisements. Do we see Kexin's ads on American ATM machines. No, she got bashed by American adults. Poor little girl.

Well said Matsuko, I agree,

Lying gets the Americans in a deep doodoo sinking in Iraq war for more than five years. Let's pull out and build the economy instead of blaming China for the war deficit. China certainly did NOT cause it.

This is over already. It does says "China: Pick your truth on He Kexin's age." doesn't that mean it was directed towards the Chinese? We need to just drop it and let the officials handle it already. Seriously, there are other games in the Olympics that we should enjoy and stop dwelling on this.

Also, we need to get our facts straight. The Chinese do not ALWAYS lie about Everything that comes their way. That is racist to the whole of the Chinese culture. It is the Chinese Government that is covering for things, just as ALL country governments do. Understand this, all of our governments lie to us at least once a year. Why make such a huge deal about a lie China made about a girl's age when there are other lies that are resulting in deaths?

The Chinese team performed brilliantly but who's to say that their international counterparts would not have performed equally well with a team composed of under-aged athletes? The rule was created in 1997 to protect children from the pressures of professional-level competition and training. If they're not going to enforce their rules, the least the IOC could do is drop the rule and level the playing field. Who knows, if they're willing to let this slide, perhaps they'll do away with that pesky drug testing next ;).

ABC
I don't need facts. That's my own opinion. Here's a fact for you...for every Olympic games record shows that USA has earned the most medals & will end up with most medals again for the 29th Olympiad. We're the best!!!
And yes the coach is Chinese...Chinese AMERICAN!!!
bwahahahaha!

Let me just add that Luikin and He had the same score on the uneven bars ... I still say that Luikin's uneven bar routine was 100% better than He's!

To those who are saying it doesnt matter... shame on you! Cheating and lieing is not the way anyone should be raised. And it does matter because the IOC will stripped her of the gold metals she won individually and since she was part of the team... they will loose the team gold aswell. I still believe that Luikin did a better uneven bars routine and that Sacramone deserved the bronze on vault since Fei, Cheng did a bad jump and fell to her knees.... I still scratch my head with that one!! I lived in Korea for over a year and know that all the Asia area does their age differently.. they use the time of year to determine age... and how I met people born the same year as me but they would claim that they were older than me by 1 and up to 2/3 years older!!... The Olympics go with the year you were born in!! It's the only way to make it fair.... Being born in the beginning of the 1994 year does not make you two years older no matter how it is looked at! 2008 - 1994= 14 years old!

rules are rules. there should be a better way of verifying ages.

AGE does matter and the younger you are, the more advantage you have. younger bodies are less mature and are more flexible. therefore, if He is underaged, it is unfair to those who are 16 at age minimum.

now if this turns out be true, what does it say about CHINA?

Do you know that you are repeating yourself? First of all, I am a South korean. Since i live outside of your country, I have no reason to rooting for your people. And I think NBC's "breaking news" is just the same old stuff that bitter americans been talking about past 2 weeks. Of course, that's par for the course from the network that brought you "plausibly live" Olympic coverage. And i'm sure your local news is INCREDIBLY biased, not only about the gymnasts. So I wouldn't be surprised how harsh they are about that little "Oree Enul" girs are cheating.

If the two "under age" athletes are proven to be under age then i will feel bad for so many wonderful athletes who could've went to the Olympics & helped their country/team win the gold no matter what the sport is.I think the age rule is a good one because younger people are definitely more flexible than older ones are which is kinda common sense, right? No matter what the out come is I must give two thumbs way up to all of the athletes!!

A video shot in 2003 shows one of the girls is 12 and another is 11 in 2003. They should be 17 and 16 in 2008. It's not a fake. It takes at least 7 years to train an athlete. Chinese are not that stupid--they have planned way ahead.
