Chairperson So_damn_lame,

Billy Gate SMS again, saying money is not an issue,he has got plently of it.As long as your script is good,he is prepared to give you an advance of US $1,000,000.But he doesn't like the name "Love story of Dr.Fu Manchu and madam Mao",and said it doesn't sound right. Can you think of a better name?

Oh,before I forget,Jacky Chan called and insisted I have to give the part of Lin Biao(the poor guy that died in the plain crash at outer Mongolia, near the tomb of Changis Khan) to him.

Friendly reminder:how is the script going?

Yours sincerely,

Steven Spielberg.

Hi Kai & so_damn_lame,

I think getting paid on a monthly wages bais is better than getting paid by per comments.

So you don't need to worry about there is no comments from you for each day.. :-)

$5 to $10 per comment is too little.

Yo Kai,

I got to get a day job. I don't type fast enough for this gig to pay off.

I think if they want to keep me hanging around GVO, they should pay me more than 50 cents per comment --- that is just plain starvation wages.

What's more, given the quality of my comments, they should raise my wages to $5 or may even $10 per comment on that merit alone. Or at less pro-rate it according to length or/and quality and what not.

Anyhow, Kai, all 8 of them points are excellent points. Hate to see how good they would have been if it wasn't for the browser slip.

I will give you a more detailed reply once I work out the pay rate thing with "you know who". I got to leverage the quality thing to get a better deal --- and they say labor rights are nonexistent in China.

Hope by now, you know I know I am joking, right?

Next time.

@ John Kennedy,

Thanks going through the trouble of finding the comment for me.

As for making fun of people's name. That wasn't my intention. I think I told Kai explicitly that I have too much respect for him to do that. Here is I said before.

"Although I like ribbing people, but I won’t stood to the level of calling you “Gai Pan” or comparing you to chop suey. I have too much respect for you to do that."

I was making fun of the fact that when romanized, there is a lot of things that gets lost. I sure there is a huge difference between "Gai" and Kai when spoken in Chinese.

Just in case anyone reader here have not yet heard of Dr.Fu Manchu,I cut and paste from Wikipedia:

Dr. Fu Manchu is a fictional character first featured in a series of novels by English author Sax Rohmer during the first half of the 20th century. The character was also featured extensively in cinema, television, radio, comic strips and comic books for over 90 years, and has become an archetype of evil criminal genius while inspiring the Fu Manchu moustache.

Recycling pictures could be as good as retelling stories, as long as they serve their intended purposes. May not be so good is repeating history or relearning lessons or reposting comments.

But shit, to call Anti-CNN and bastion of extremism and then regurgitate the bullshit about cyber guerrilla warfare

don’t give a flying fuck about politics

pisses most of us off the most, and me especially, is not the fucking incessant Chinky bashing
Chinky bashing crap
journalistic crap
shit like Dufur, Falun gone, Xinjiang, Tibet, and any crap
begin to speaking for ourselves and find our voice,
god damn chinky bastards are not taking it up the ass quietly anymore.

When you utter so many foul words,so many racist comments, sounds like you are inviting someone to join you to go and have a riot or something.
I am not from mainland China, but I did watch those Chinese cultural revolution movies.I think you are perfectly suitable to write a new script for another cultural revolution movie.

I can try to give it a name:The Attack of the UN headquarter by Chairperson So_Damn_Lame.

Or may be you can think of a better name for it?
After all,it is your show.

@ so_damn_lame:

I had written a very long, well-written response to you and then I somehow reloaded the page and lost it all. I'm extremely aggravated right now but I'll try to just summarize what I had written.

1. I think you've misunderstood my views on anti-CNN. I do not think they are wu mao dang (though I'm certain some frolic there) and I recognize they're a voice of some Chinese people. I take issue with them because they embarrass me and the Chinese people who know better with their often immature rhetoric.

2. Wu mao dang does exist and the Chinese government does not really hide it. Propaganda and shaping the public's opinion is a bona-fide initiative and concern of the Chinese government. Acknowledging this does not dismiss independent popular discontent amongst the Chinese against the West, Western personalities, journalism, or media.

3. There is ignorance, immaturity, and idiocy on both sides. For someone like me who surrounds himself with channels of information and opinion that tends to be moderate, balanced, and fair with regards to both China and the West, I actually don't feel like there is a dearth of voices for China. At the same time, that is just unique to my situation in China. I fully acknowledge that the media environment and general population of the West is appreciably biased due to socialized long-standing preconceptions of China. At the same time, I'm forced to remember that that is also the case for the vast majority of the Chinese with regards to their views of the West. However, I still think moderating information is far easier to access in the West than in China.

4. If I understood your comments correctly, I fully understand your frustrations with foreign-born, possibly Western-washed Chinese who seem embarrassed by their own heritage and so casually buy into Western biases. I also fully agree that many activists tend to do attention-whoring stunts that are not constructively contributing to a solution for the very situation they are demonstrating (or terrorizing) against.

5. I'm not sure why you think I don't understand the psychology behind things but I hope it is just a misunderstanding of my position. As I have said before time and time again, I do regard much of what the Chinese do to be entirely "understandable," but there is no reason why I should not admonish or criticize what I consider to be helplessly ineffectual and hopelessly fallacious teeth-gnashing and chest-thumping. I have a vested interest in the Chinese quickly learning how to engage in rational, reasoned discourse rather than infantile whining and childish bickering. Chinese should definitely not take it up the ass, but it is one thing to flail about while getting reamed and another to actually do something that will stop (or avoid) the horrific situation.

6. I talk to both sides and if you do too, you know just how incredibly frustrating it is to be in the middle. If you're like me, you know there are websites or places where it is so hopelessly biased that it is pointless to even engage in discussion. GVO is not one of them. I think Anti-CNN is one, and I know there are many other blogs and forums in the West who are the mirror opposite. I have, do, and will chide and admonish both sides when it is warranted. In my experience on GVO, however, it is usually the Chinese who actually open their mouths and spout idiotic bullshit. Occassionally, you'll get a Western idiot, but I honestly feel they are fewer (on GVO China at least). I'm not really certain what sample size of my writings you're using to accuse me of not talking sense with both sides.

7. Overall, I think you and I more or less agree on most of these issues, but you had taken issue with how I expressed my annoyance earlier in this thread. I completely understand I may have committed the same knee-jerk ranting that I was assailing anti-CNN and the like for.

8. Eight is a nice number. I do think anti-CNN should tone things down but I still maintain that at least many of the people there should indeed be ashamed, embarrassed, and apologize. If they want CNN and Cafferty to apologize for calling the Chinese "goons and thugs," surely they can apologize for calling CNN and BBC "leader of liars" and "British Bbrainwashing Channel." They should be ashamed, embarrassed, and apologize for committing the very sins they rage against. Are you beginning to understand why I said that yet?

...

You're just here to buy soy sauce? I'm just here to do push-ups. ;) Cheers.

6. I talk to both sides and if you do too, you know just how incredibly frustrating it is to be in the middle. If you’re like me, you know there are websites or places where it is so hopelessly biased that it is pointless to even engage in discussion. Occassionally, you’ll get a Western idiot, but I honestly feel they are fewer (on GVO China at least). I’m not really certain what sample size of my writings you’re using to accuse me of not talking sense with both sides.

If they want CNN and Cafferty to apologize for calling the Chinese “goons and thugs,” surely they can apologize for calling CNN and BBC “leader of liars” and “British Bbrainwashing Channel.” They should be ashamed, embarrassed, and apologize for committing the very sins they rage against. Are you beginning to understand why I said that yet?

…

You’re just here to buy soy sauce? I’m just here to do push-ups. ;) Cheers.
