Am I the only one remembering that Bastille Day was about liberty and freedom? This whole Mediterranean thing is yet again a platform for dictators to get some respectability, and for the Sarkozy to claim he, France and the Europeans are really relevant. Of course, we the people are not anywhere to be seen in that picture. Correction: part of the ceremony was a reading of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by a French comedian of Maghreban descent to the heads of states present.
