First, congrats on Preah Vihear becoming a world heritage site. Everyone should welcome this irrespective of race or ethnicity, although certainly there is a lot Khmer pride there – and I am Khmer.
My only concern is that certain Khmers and Thais are taking the issue to their respective extremes of nationistic sentiments. Each claims has some merits, but there is also a lot of misperception and misunderstandings in the above comments. Each trying to make overt generalization of the other. While some Khmers may think that no Thai would ever acknowledge Thai culture’s adoption of a lot of aspects of Khmer culture, have learned Thai/Khmer history carefully, or would not give up territorial claims on Cambodia, some Thai may, on the other hand, think that ALL Khmers are ‘stupid’ in a way that make them behave like the rioters who burned down the Thai embassy or whatever… The truth is these are false generalization that only describe a small number of people. This is where open discussion and dialouges are important. Once we know what the other side ‘really’ thinks, we will also change our own perception of the other side.

I really apreciated when Preah vihear temple was registered as world heritage by khmer. i think to prevent the misunderstanding by a few thais and for your next generation. you should do more research not from your country, you mush search from the world. you mush know where you are from, how did you treat to khmer in the past. the world is witness to you and me, you mush be fair. as i known some politician try to transform history from good to bad and bad to good, if they still trying to do that ours country will got war; do you want that? i think that no one in the world want to fight, everyone want to peace, even you and me.

Here is the truth: all the 21 members of the world heritage committee agree to inscribe Preah Vihear as a world heritage. They are not bullied by the Thais and are tired of playing cat-and-mouse game with the Thais.
Those shamless and arrogant Thais should have learnt their mistake so far, or they will get nothing besides hatred from Cambodians.
Thai cannot beat Khmer in Preah Vihear listing – that’s OK. We are still friendly neigbors. Forget about the follished politicians. Next we will do business together – make the site to be the great tourist spot.

Study is not everything, nor it is an excuse for everyting. You should do more for ur country besides studying. I think Cambodia needs more nationalists and well-educated citizens than selfish high-educated ones.
