You are completely right, Onnik, and I 100% agree with you. I suppose that wasn’t clear from my comment. I just wanted to make clear, for those who are complaining or disappointed that the ECHR cannot order Armenia to give A1+ a frequency or to undertake some sort of action; that awarding financial compensation is the only thing they are allowed to do (though of course the amount they awarded is up for discussion).

Hi Myrthe, I think we all realise that and even though the compensation was a pittance it raises serious questions about the tender process for broadcasting frequencies which should be addressed the next time A1 Plus puts a bid in.

I think it is worthwhile mentioning that the ECHR cannot order the Armenian government to put A1+ back in the air. It is not in the ECHR’s mandate to demand such things in their verdicts. The ECHR can only award financial compensation. So for anyone disappointed in the ruling: this is as much as the ECHR can do.

I have been so discouraged by the suppression of freedom by the Armenian government and the pervasive corruption at all levels of society that I no longer send financial contributions. I am convinced that contributions sent to Armenia go to the hands of those who oppress the Armenian people.
