From Syria, Sasa writes: “Syrian farmers living under Israeli occupation have asked Israel to allow them to sell their cherries inside Syria. Living under occupation means they can not travel to Syria or visit their families, and they certainly can't send shipments of their produce into Syria.”

    The cherries aren’t actually “exported” (I’ve changed my title now). Using the word “export” implies Israeli sovereignty over the Golan. Of course, it is Syrian land, and recognised as such by the international community.

    Syrians living under Israel occupation are simply “selling” their cherries in Syria, instead of in Israel.
