hi Fari,

hope this request of yours is directed toward me and thus my reply will be appropriate! (i'm glad and you're lucky i checked my email account to do with this site today and got your message soon enough!)

well, there are many new Iranian bands or individuals playing pop, hip hop, r&r, blues even! and all sorts of mixed or original style singing and instrumentational music. (there are mainstream ones too of course, and some of them are tolerable enough, namely the Aryan band for example. as you may already know, Aryan also hosted some works with Chris de Burg (sp?) visiting Iran last year.)

you surely know of Kiosk, Namjoo, 127, Hypernova to name but a few already! search on YouTube for the starters, and as soon as you hit any of those names, you'll see relevant / related stuff by others on the same pages too. there are quite a number of good ones in the young Iranian music scene today, most of whom have fled Iran in the recent years and live in EU or USA and elsewhere though but YouTube is your friend to trace out their names and find some of their tracks. some also have websites, so, internet is your best friend for this.

I had met Iranian musicians, rock & roll or even traditional (say, 'roohozi' and 'motrebi' style performers) doing things like this, even in the old pre-revolution times, but this is the first time I'm seeing them as a band. Great job indeed! They are truly successful in what they are doing.
