Joseph Vienna

The problems facing Chechna were in large part related to elements existing in Chechnya.

It's not like Russia has bombed other areas. FYI, Tatarstan and Kalmykia are known to have a good degree of autonomy which hasn't made them more democratic than some other parts of Russia.

Who in Russia is advocating the bombing of Kyiv/Kiev?

The Russian economy is not exclusively dependent on fossil fuel.

Overall, Russia seems to be doing better than Ukraine.

Without being affiliated with Russia, Ukraine's land mass would likely be smaller.

In point of fact, the situation in Chechnya has stabilized from what was evident there during the last decade. Chechen separatism has significantly declined, due to the mayhem existing in Chechnya, when that republic had considerable autonomy under Dudayev and Maskhadov.

If Luzhkov isn't so important, then why ban him for those comments of his? How about the idea of free political expression?

It's time for others to be "mature."

Representing a banana republic like Russia, no one really cares much about what a has-been like Luzhkov has to say anyway. However, he is amusing! They lost the Cold War, they lost their soviet union, the current federation is imploding - and 29,892 Russians dead on Chechen national territory...and counting - 14 more were exterminated by the Chechen Liberation Front 2 days ago. Medvedev, Ivanov, etc, can cry all they wish...they know that the Russian federation will soon be finished.
